We represented a farmer who wanted his neighbor to build half of the fence under the Indiana fence law. The Indiana fence law requires that adjoining landowners, in certain situations, but share in the cost of building a fence, or else the township trustee is to see that the fence is built. The trail court ruled against Mr. Belork and stated that the Indiana Fence Law did not apply. However, we argued the case to the court of appeals and the court of appeals reversed the trial court.
I represented a homeowner who was defrauded by sellers of a home. Case was dismissed from the trial court, but we argued successfully on appeal and won.

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
In re Wells County FSA: Producer was penalized over 1 million dollars for a converted wetland and planting violation. Was able to effectively prove that producer did not convert the wetland and also that planting violations should be consolidated. Outcome was producer's penalty was reduced to roughly $2,400.00. In re Steuben County FSA: Producer was penalized over $80,000 and not eligible for USDA program benefits for wetland conversion. Was able to effectively prove that the violation was due to a third party. The penalties for the producer were removed and producer regained program eligibility. Belork v. Latimer: Case regarding the Indiana Fence Law. Trial Court struck down the longstanding Indiana fence law application. Was successfully able to get the matter overturned by the Indiana Court of Appeals. In Re SA Farms: Farm Service Agency denied various programs to producer. Was able to prove that producer should not have been denied and successfully had producer's program benefits restored. Edsall v. Great American: Producer had crop insurance denied based upon alleged issues with his planter. Was able to successfully prove that crop losses were not planter related, but rather weather related.
How did you build a successful practice?
Focusing on quality legal services at affordable prices. Our office is a rural law office that has a lower overhead than offices in town. We pass these savings on to our clients.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
Someone they can afford and will work hard for the client.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
It helps, but I take cases all over the state and do just fine. Depending on the legal issue, I believe we can help someone no matter where they are located at.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
Our law office is out on a farm in the country. So, we are very accessible to the schedule of clients. Need to meet with us in the evening or weekend? No problem. Also, we have less of an overhead so we can charge less. Since the law office is connect to our home, it is a very warm and welcoming environment.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
The most rewarding aspect of being an attorney is helping people. Often times, the legal issue facing a client is one of the hardest things they have gone through in their life. It is such a great feeling to know that, as their attorney, I helped them through a tough time and made a difference in their life.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
Spending time with my family and helping with my family's farm.
Are you involved in your community?
