About John

John V. Tait is an Associate Attorney with the Firm and concentrates his practice on civil litigation with an emphasis on personal injury, product liability, construction/labor law liability, premises liability, and contractual claims. Mr. Tait has handled several cases involving industrial equipment, motor vehicles, firearms and ammunition, and recreational equipment and accessories. Mr. Tait also has extensive litigation experience with lawsuits involving retail establishments, residential complexes, supermarkets, restaurants, and recreational facilities for claims involving construction accidents, premises liability, Dram Shop, and general negligence.


An experienced litigator, Mr. Tait has successfully taken a number of cases to verdict in both state and federal courts throughout the country.  He has also successfully presented cases on behalf of national and international corporations before the American Arbitration Association, National Association of Security Dealers and the World Intellectual Property Organization.

Prior to joining Law Office of Michael H. Joseph, Mr. Tait was associated with a major international law firm based in Manhattan where he gained extensive experience defending securities litigation, multi-district litigation, and class actions.  He also participated in a number of antitrust, securities, and intellectual property trials.


Mr. Tait regularly litigates cases throughout the City of New York, as well as Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, Rockland, Orange, and Dutchess Counties, and throughout New Jersey.  He is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey, as well as several federal courts throughout the country. Mr. Tait earned a B.B.A. in finance, cum laude, from Pace University.  He then went on to earn his J.D. cum laude from Fordham University School of Law, and was awarded Order of the Coif honors.  He served as an Associate Editor on the Fordham Law Review and is the author of Trademark Regulations and the Commercial Speech Doctrine: Focusing on the Regulatory Objective to Classify Speech for First Amendment Analysis, 67 Fordham L. Rev. 897 (1998).  He also served as an Editor on the Moot Court Board and was a member of the Fordham Moot Court Tax Team which earned first place at the National Tax Moot Court Competition.  While in law school, Mr. Tait clerked for United States Magistrate Judge Ronald J. Hedges and also worked as a mediator in the Civil Court for Queens County.
