About Joseph
Joseph received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan in 1935. He received his law degree from Harvard Law School in 1938. He is licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois. He is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Central, Northern, and Southern Districts of Illinois; United States Court of Appeals, Seventh Circuit; the United States Tax Court; and the United States Supreme Court.
Joseph has been a practicing attorney for over 65 years. He was an associate in a Chicago law firm from 1938 to 1943 then became the Peoria Illinois District Rationing Attorney for the Office of Price Administration. In 1945, he opened his own law office in Peoria. In 1950, he was Supervisor of the U.S. Census for the 10th Congressional District in Illinois. In 1959, he joined the Firm as a Partner.
Joseph is a past President of the Peoria County Bar Association, a former Chairman of the Federal Taxation Section of the Illinois State Bar Association, and a former Chairman of the Liaison Committee between the Illinois State Bar Association and the District Office of the Internal Revenue Service and a former Member of the Board of Directors of TheClient Security Fund of the Illinois Bar Association. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, a Stalwart Fellow of the Illinois Bar Foundation, and a Life Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. Joseph has lectured in Federal Taxation, Estate Planning, and Corporations for the Illinois State Bar Association's Institute for Continuing Legal Education. He presently serves on the Business Corporation Advisory Committee to the Secretary of State of Illinois. He is co-author with Irving Goldstein of the law school textbook, Trial Practice Cases.
Active in Peoria community activities, Joseph is a past President of the Peoria Community Chest & Council, Peoria Hebrew Congregation Anshai Emeth, and the Great Lakes Region of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations and he also served on that National Board. He is the recipient of an Honorary Alumnus Award from Bradley University.
