About Julia
Attorney Julia Spitler was born and raised in the metro-Atlanta area. She graduated from the University of Georgia with dual degrees in Anthropology and Political Science. She went on to earn her law degree at the University of South Carolina School of Law with a concentration in children's law. During law school, Julia served as the research editor of the Journal of Law and Education and president of Women in Law. Julia was an active member of the Pro Bono Board. She also served as an inaugural member of Konduros Leadership Development Program. Julia served as a clerk for a family law attorney at Gaffney, Lewis, and Edwards in Columbia, South Carolina for two years. Julia assisted in developing a legal advocacy training program for Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands, which has now been implemented through that organization. She also volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children in state custody.
After law school, Julia moved back to the Atlanta-area to be near family. She practiced as an Associate Special Assistant Attorney General in Cherokee County. During that time, Julia worked closely with social workers, mental health professionals, and families in juvenile court (dependency). After working for three and a half years solely in juvenile court, Julia began practicing private family law in addition to continuing some juvenile court work. Julia primarily practices family law in the metro-Atlanta area.
Julia is a member of the Gwinnett County Bar Association, Blue Ridge Bar Association, the Georgia Association for Women Lawyers, and the University of Georgia’s Alumni Association. In her free time, Julia explores Atlanta-area breweries and attending Braves games with family and friends. She can typically be found watching football every weekend, especially with the Dawgs are playing. Julia also enjoys cooking, gardening, and spending time with her three pets, Ruby, Dolly, and Artie.
