Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

We have helped hundreds of people get control of their finances and have the opportunity to live without the worry of someone calling them and asking for payments they could not make. We have had several clients who were on the verge of losing their home for default on their mortgage. One particular case involved Debtors with over $100,000 in equity, $19,000 mortgage and we were able to pay the mortgage off in the five year plan and make the mortgage company credit their mortgage escrow because the mortgage creditor failed to timely turn over insurance payments for the repair of their home or to properly calculate the escrow.

How did you build a successful practice?

We have been able to fight the fight and to gain the reputation of going to the mat for the unfortunate debtor. We have taken on battles with the trustee or with creditors that other attorneys have stepped away from doing.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Clients need to find someone they are comfortable with and are willing to confide in by telling their whole story without fear and knowing the information is confidential and they will not be judged because of their situation. If the client is not comfortable with the attorney, find another one.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

Knowing your Courts, Judge, Trustee and creditor's attorneys is important to a smooth process. Yes, you can go to someone that is not familiar with the local process and they may be able to get the job done but it is not as painless as for someone who knows, who, what, when and where it happens.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

We are going to give the client information so they can make an informed decision what is best for them. Not ever solution will fit the situation. If the prospect will give accurate information, we can make recommendations to fit their situation, not everyone else. Each person's situation is personal to them and we can make recommendations to allow them to make a sound decision based on what is known at the time the decision is made.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

We need to know how much debt they have, the kind of debt they have, whether they are employed, married, single, have dependents, being garnished and where they live and if they have previously filed a bankruptcy.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

When we accept a client, we will work personally with them. We do not hand them off to a staff person to address their needs. Our staff is friendly, cordial and willing to help. Friendliness goes a long way. We know your situation is important to you. We know your name and we will help you achieve your goals based upon what we have available to help your situation.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Being able to lift a load off of the client's mind and allow them to get on with life. To be able to enjoy the fruits of their labor and to have a life when they get their paycheck. To see them be able to move toward their financial goals and to apply creativity to their situation and have it all work.

What are your other interests in addition to law?

We both enjoy the outdoors, enjoy travel, history and our families. We enjoy our children and their lives and understand that there is more to living the just showing up at the office. Let's have a cup of coffee or a soft drink and tell us about you.

Are you involved in your community?

Yes, we are both involved in Kiwanis, and each of us have our own interests whether it be going to a museum, helping kids, playing pool, or doing something for someone else.
