Mr. Kyle Embry Carlton, Private Law Practice

Kyle represents clients in a variety of complex corporate structurings, asset protection and estate plan related matters with an emphasis on startup companies, family succession and wealth management, venture financing, nonprofit entities and international structures & transactions.  This includes: 

• Complex, multi-entity corporate formations/structurings
  
•  Family limited partnerships and basic estate planning (particularly for the successful entrepreneur)
  
• Meshing nonprofit and for-profit entity structures
  
• Private securities offerings: seed, angel, incubation, and venture financing transactions
  
• Counsel on International transactions or going international for the first time

While he primarily focuses on entrepreneurial and estate planning law, Kyle also advises clients on a broad range of legal and business matters, including:

• Estate disputes and probate proceedings
  
• Real estate transactions, financing, and loan workouts
  
• International commodities and textile transactions  

Kyle's clients have included anyone from angel investors and entrepreneurs to ranchers and CPA groups. His clients span a broad array of industries including: technology, energy, real estate, agriculture, banking, manufacturing, advertising & marketing, and retail sectors.

Kyle previously worked in a non-legal capacity for a large, nationally recognized law firm for over two years.  After a stint working to open a family office for a wealthy north Dallas family, Kyle joined Ferguson Davis.  In addition to his work at Ferguson Davis, Kyle also currently serves as the head of strategy and finance for Garage Works Strategic Partners, a partnership of Venture Catalysts and Dallas-based business incubator. Kyle's passion for entrepreneurship led him to start his first company when he was in college which he successfully divested himself of in 2004.

Kyle was born in Dallas, Texas and is a seventh generation Texan. He holds a BBA in finance from Texas A&M University where he graduated in the top 3% of all business students.  Additionally, Kyle holds a Juris Doctorate and an MBA in strategy & entrepreneurship from Southern Methodist University.  Kyle is licensed to practice law in the state of Texas and is currently pursuing licensure in New York, D.C., and internationally through Oxford University.

In addition to his passion for entrepreneurship, Kyle has a passion for his family, his community and the less fortunate globally.   He serves with a number of philanthropic, civic and religious groups around the nation and the globe.  Kyle doesn't slow down much.  But, when he does, he enjoys reading, swimming, traveling, high adventure backpacking and treasuring his time with family and friends.
