About Lanette
My law practice is devoted primarily to civil litigation with an emphasis on insurance defense, workers compensation defense and personal injury law. I continue to enjoy those practice areas to date.
I have represented clients in administrative hearings before the Missouri Department of Revenue, Division of Taxation on issues involving personal property sales tax and estimated corporate reporting. I have assisted Missouri's rural electric cooperatives with a wide variety of issues ranging from administrative and employment to litigation involving easements, inverse condemnation, annexation and land usage. I have also represented Missouri's rural electric cooperatives in complex tort litigation filed with the asbestos courts of the City of St. Louis and Madison County, Illinois.
For my corporate clients and other employers, I have drafted anti-harassment and anti-discrimination policies and I have provided legal counsel on issues regarding the prevention of sexual harassment and discrimination in the workplace by conducting training seminars as well as providing legal representation on those issues when necessary. I have represented clients on both sides of the table regarding Title VII and the Missouri Human Rights Act and have assisted clients with both the filing of and defense of claims filed with Missouri Commission on Human Rights. I have drafted corporation formation documents for small businesses looking for protection under Missouri's corporations laws and have helped my clients establish limited liability companies and register fictitious names with the Missouri Secretary of State's Office.
In addition to conducting trials in the Nineteenth, Thirteenth and Fourteenth Judicial Circuits of Missouri, I have also successfully argued before Missouri's Western District Court of Appeals. I am a member of the Missouri Bar and the Cole County Bar Association.
I am a proud native of Mid-Missouri having grown up in Jefferson City, Missouri. I am a graduate of Jefferson City High School, the University of Missouri - Columbia, and the University of Missouri - Columbia School of Law. My husband, Jim is a small business owner in Jefferson City, Missouri. Jim and I have two children.
