About Laura
Laura L. Anderson was born and raised inMobile, Alabama. She is married andhas two daughters. She attendedFlorida State University, and graduated with honors in 1983 with a Bachelor ofScience degree in economics. Whilein Tallahassee, Ms. Anderson was actively involved in numerous campusorganizations, holding leadership positions in student government and hersorority, Chi Omega, and singing with the University Singers. She was honored to be tapped in membership to Gold Key and Pi Gamma Mu(leadership and academic honorary societies), and selected among statewideapplicants to serve as an intern in the Office of former Governor Bob Graham.
Ms. Anderson returned to Alabama for law school, graduating from theUniversity of Alabama School of Law in 1986. While in law school she served as associate editor of the Law andPsychology Review. After graduationshe spent one year in Montgomery, Alabama as staff attorney to Alabama SupremeCourt Justice Janies L. Shores, the first woman in United States history to beelected as a state Supreme Court justice, and then went back to school, thistime to the University of Florida, earning a Masters of Law degree in taxationin 1988.
Ms. Anderson practiced with an established law firm in Atlanta, Georgiafor two years, assisting clients in tax and estate planning. In search of a better quality of life, Ms. Anderson and herhusband, Patrick, left successful careers in Atlanta and moved to Brevard Countyin June of 1990. Since arriving inFlorida, Ms. Anderson has limited her practice to the areas of estate planning,probate and guardianship law, with particular emphasis on Medicaid planning.
Ms. Anderson serves on the Board of Directors of various organizationsincluding the Senior Resource Alliance, Brevard County Estate Planning Council,and the Space Coast Chapter of the Florida State Guardianship Association. Sheis a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the Elder Law andReal Property, Probate and Trust Law Sections of The Florida Bar. She is admitted to practice before the courts of the states of Florida,Georgia and Alabama. Ms. Anderson is Board Certified in Wills, Trusts and Estates.
