About Lawrence

Lawrence M. Silverman has been a member of the Pennsylvania bar since 1973, having graduated from Temple University School of Law in that year.  Mr. Silverman is the Firm's senior litigator.  While at Temple, Mr. Silverman was an editor of the Temple Law Quarterly.  Upon graduation from law school  Mr. Silverman worked for seven years with one of the foremost civil litigators in the Philadelphia area devoting his practice to products liability, medical malpractice and general litigation matters.  Upon joining his prior firm in 1979, he continued his representation of plaintiffs in similar types of insurance litigation, including catastrophic damage cases arising out of alleged product defects and aviation matters as well as medical negligence, general negligence, asbestos and toxic tort claims.  On behalf of primary insurers, Mr. Silverman has tried dozens of cases before juries including complex professional negligence suits, product liability, aviation, trucking, and bad faith claims as well as general negligence matters and complex coverage disputes spanning the spectrum of coverage litigation.  He has defended without the need for trial hundreds of other claims.  He is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Middle Districts.  He has also been admitted to practice pro hac vice in New Jersey and Delaware.  Professionally, Mr. Silverman is a member of numerous bar associations and professional organizations including the American Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute and the Pennsylvania and Philadelphia Associations of Defense Counsel.  He served as a member of the Governor-Elect Rendell's Medical Malpractice Task Force and has served as counsel to the Pennsylvania Orthopedic Society.  He is also an active member of several committees of the Philadelphia Bar Association including the Professional Guidance  Committee.  That committee provides ethical advice to attorneys seeking ethical guidance.  He is a former Co-Chair of that committee.  Mr.. Silverman's current non-legal activities include serving as Treasurer and Board member of the Interfaith Center of Greater Philadelphia, ex officio member of the Environmental Advisory Board of Cheltenham Township and President of the Brandywine Valley Australian Shepherd Club where he participates in dog agility and herding competitions with his Australian Shepherd.
