Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

As most family law cases typically involve very personal issues, I feel like I make a big difference to all of my clients. One particular recent case comes to mine wherein a mother had her children taken away from her by the court and children\\\\\\\'s father just in time for the Christmas holidays. However, once we got involved, we were able to get her children back to her before the end of the holidays.

How did you build a successful practice?

Effort and experience. There is a reason why it is called \"practicing\" law: you are always improving. I am also fortunate enough to have people in my life that help me grow on a professional level.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Someone they feel comfortable with and confident in after meeting.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

It really depends on the facts of each case, but it is definitely good to know the proclivities of the local judges. In family law, trial courts have broad discretion in how they are able to rule on their cases.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

As it pertains to family law, whether or not the potential client needs to retain an attorney.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

It depends on the issues involved, but typically and in no particular order: 1. the names of the parties involved; 2. whether a lawsuit has already been filed; 3. any potential upcoming court dates; 4. where the parties reside; 5. whether the lawsuit is based on a prior existing court order (such as a parenting plan or marital dissolution agreement); and 6. a short summary of the issues involved.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

Being the 7th generation of lawyers in my family.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Helping my clients. I also enjoy the competitive nature of being an attorney.

What are your other interests in addition to law?

I am a bigtime fiction/fantasy nerd.

Are you involved in your community?

No, not really.
