About Lucia
Lucia J. W. McLaren earned her Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, graduating cum laude. While at Wash U., Ms. McLaren was President of the Architecture School, founder of the school’s chapter of Women in Architecture, and was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honorary and Mortar Board Senior Honorary.
Ms. McLaren earned a Fulbright Fellowship to Finland after her senior year in college. She spent one year living in Helsinki, Finland, studying architectural education at the Helsinki University of Technology and traveling throughout Europe.
After finishing her Fulbright, Ms. McLaren joined AmeriCorp and moved to the Twin Cities where she volunteered full time at the Dorothy Day Center, a homeless drop-in center in downtown Saint Paul. After volunteering, Ms. McLaren managed the Center's Direct Services, which provided free services to low-income and homeless individuals. Ms. McLaren also ran an emergency food shelf and free clothing shop and wrote and received multiple grants for the Center.
Ms. McLaren attended William Mitchell College of Law in Saint Paul, Minnesota where she received her Juris Doctor degree in 2007. While at William Mitchell, Ms. McLaren participated in moot court, was a student member of the Warren B. Burger Inn of Court, and was a research assistant for Professor Kim Dayton. Ms. McLaren also organized and ran an auction to raise money for law students to clerk at non-profit law organizations for summer internships. Ms. McLaren began working at Goldenberg & Johnson as a law clerk during her second year of law school.
Ms. McLaren joined the firm as an attorney in 2007 and primarily practices in the areas of pharmaceutical litigation, medical device litigation, wrongful death, and personal injury. Ms. McLaren was extensively involved with the Guidant heart device litigation, including handling much of the day to day work of organizing the Guidant Heart Device Minnesota State Court Litigation and operating as local counsel for hundreds of state court claims filed by firms throughout the country. Ms. McLaren is also currently involved in the following litigations: Medtronic Sprint Fidelis leads, Kugel Mesh Patch, Trasylol, Ortho Evra, Digitek, Viagra, Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), Avandia, Levaquin, Reglan, Gadolinium, and Medtronic heart device.
