During his time as an Assistant State’s Attorney, in addition to his sizeable caseload, Mr. Berman was responsible for screening DUI cases, sifting through hospital records, conducting competency hearings, and training colleagues on DUI case law. He started on the District Court team, before being promoted to the Circuit Court, and ultimately to the Auto-Manslaughter Trial Team. Attorney Jason G. Miller brings over 15 years of criminal law experience to Alpert Schreyer Criminal Defense Attorneys. As a former assistant state’s attorney for Anne Arundel County, he has handled every type of criminal defense matter, from DUI and traffic-related matters to homicide. Having tried hundreds of criminal bench trials and dozens of criminal jury trials, Mr. Miller’s vast experience positions him well to challenge prosecutors at every facet of a trial. In addition, he has presented numerous times as a subject matter expert at the International Association of Arson Investigators and also presented to the Maryland Fire and Explosion Investigators Association. Having been in Maryland since 2005, Mr. Miller has made this area his home. Mr. Boyd was born and raised in Southern Maryland. Mr. Boyd graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park, with a Bachelor’s of Science in Criminal Justice and Criminology. He went on to earn his Master’s degree and Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore School of Law. Following law school, Mr. Boyd accepted a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Karen H. Abrams, former Administrative Judge for the Circuit Court of St. Mary’s County. Following his clerkship, Mr. Boyd joined the St. Mary’s County State’s Attorney’s Office, eventually becoming the lead prosecutor for vehicular homicides.
