Brett M. Dieck graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Baltimore Merrick School of Business in 2003. In May 2009, Brett obtained his Juris Doctorfrom the University of Baltimore School of Law. Throughout law school, Brett worked as a law clerk for a small firm in Annapolis, Maryland and a large firm in Towson, Maryland. In December 2009, Brett was admitted to the Maryland State Bar and in September 2011 Brett was admitted to the United States District Court for the District of Maryland. Brett is currently a member of the Maryland State Bar Association (MSBA), the Baltimore County Bar Association, and the Baltimore City Bar Association. Additionally, Brett is qualified as a Civil Mediator in the State of Maryland.Since 2002, Brett has worked in the title industry providing marketing and settlement services as an agent licensed by the State of Maryland. In June 2003, Brett successfully founded his own company - Old Line Title Company, Inc. Brett continues to manage the company on a daily basis as President and General counsel.

Attorney Michael Berman is dedicated to helping wrongfully injured clients with various legal concerns, especially those dealing with personal injury law and workers’ compensation. Mr. Berman previously worked as a prosecutor with the State’s Attorney’s Office for Anne Arundel County, though he has ample experience in many different areas of the law. Born and raised in Maryland, Attorney Berman attended DeMatha Catholic High School before he went on to University of Maryland College Park. Attorney Berman then earned his JD from the University of Baltimore School of Law, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Concentration in Litigation and Advocacy. While in law school, Attorney Berman served as an Associate Comments Editor on the University of Baltimore Law Review, where he honed his legal writing skills. Mr. Berman also represented clients in civil commitment proceedings as a student attorney with the Disability Law Clinic, before going on to work as a Certified Mediator for the Health Advocacy Unit in the Office of the Attorney General. Attorney Berman was hired as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable J. Michael Wachs in the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County after he graduated law school. While working in that position, he frequently reviewed motions, conducted legal research, and assisted Judge Wachs with the preparation of various court rulings. During his time as an Assistant State’s Attorney, in addition to his sizeable caseload, Mr. Berman was responsible for screening DUI cases, sifting through hospital records, conducting competency hearings, and training colleagues on DUI case law. He started on the District Court team, before being promoted to the Circuit Court, and ultimately to the Auto-Manslaughter Trial Team. Attorney Jason G. Miller brings over 15 years of criminal law experience to Alpert Schreyer Criminal Defense Attorneys. As a former assistant state’s attorney for Anne Arundel County, he has handled every type of criminal defense matter, from DUI and traffic-related matters to homicide. Having tried hundreds of criminal bench trials and dozens of criminal jury trials, Mr. Miller’s vast experience positions him well to challenge prosecutors at every facet of a trial. He began his legal career at the State’s Attorney’s Office and rose through the ranks from law clerk to Chief of the District Court. Mr. Miller spent time handling DUI’s and criminal misdemeanors, burglaries, violent crimes, and sexual offenses. He received a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) certification in the administration of standardized field sobriety tests in 2010. He has also attended the National Computer Forensics Institute twice for training related to computer forensics and cellular devices. Mr. Miller began teaching introduction to trial advocacy to law students as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Baltimore School of Law in the spring of 2023. In 2023, Mr. Miller was certified as a DWI detection and standardized field sobriety test instructor by the NHTSA. Mr. Miller was born and raised to a career firefighter in Northern Virginia. He spent time as a volunteer firefighter while pursuing his bachelors in fire and safety engineering technology. For years, Mr. Miller handled all of the arson cases in Anne Arundel County. In addition, he has presented numerous times as a subject matter expert at the International Association of Arson Investigators and also presented to the Maryland Fire and Explosion Investigators Association. His background and experience with complex criminal investigations and expert witnesses is a valuable asset to Alpert Schreyer Criminal Defense Attorneys. Having been in Maryland since 2005, Mr. Miller has made this area his home. He graduated cum laude from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 2009 and was also a staff editor of their flagship journal, Law Review. Mr. Miller lives in Anne Arundel County with his wife and two children. He enjoys spending time at his children’s various sporting events, hiking, running, and fishing.

While representing victims of medical malpractice, Mr. McCubbin is able to use the skills, knowledge, and insight he learned while defending medical malpractice claims; he knows the medical-malpractice-defendants’ “play book” from his inside experience and now uses that knowledge to help victims of medical malpractice. Mr. Zabel was born and raised in North Carolina where he attended Appalachian State University for his undergraduate degree. After working in the commercial door and hardware industry for nine years, Mr. Zabel moved to Maryland to pursue his JD, graduating Magna Cum Laude from the University of Baltimore School of Law. While in law school, Mr. Zabel was a member of the Royal Graham Shannonhouse Honor Society. Mr. Zabel also served as a Staff Editor on the University of Baltimore Law Forum. During law school Mr. Zabel represented clients as a Rule 19 attorney through the Human Trafficking Prevention Project Clinic. After graduating from law school, Mr. Zabel secured a position as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Anthony Vittoria in the Circuit Court for Baltimore City. During his clerkship, Mr. Zabel conducted research, drafted opinions and orders, and assisted the Judge in all aspects of both civil and criminal trials. Following his clerkship, Mr. Zabel worked at a firm specializing in professional malpractice defense. Mr. Zabel then moved on to his next endeavor as an Assistant State’s Attorney in Prince George’s County. While working as a prosecutor, Mr. Zabel prosecuted thousands of major motor vehicle and misdemeanor criminal cases. In addition to handling a significant volume of cases which allowed him to hone his trial skills, Mr. Zabel was also entrusted with the training of incoming attorneys.
