About Michael
Kent Canada is a native of Texas and graduated cum laude from West Texas State University in 1981, where he was a member of Alpha Chi and Pi Gamma Mu. In 1984 he received his law degree from Texas Tech University School of Law. He was admitted to the New Mexico Bar in 1984 and the Texas Bar in 1992.
Kent is also admitted to practice before the United States Court Supreme Court, Unites States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, United States Courts of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, United States District Court of New Mexico, and United States District Courts for the Eastern, Northern, and Southern Districts of Texas and Texas Courts.
Kent has handled in excess of 30 appellate cases including the presentation of a Petition for a Writ of Certiorari to the United States Supreme Court and has presented oral arguments in both state and federal courts of appeal.
Kent and his wife, Donna, were foster parents for many years. Kent has presented programs to foster parent groups, and Donna was involved in teaching foster parents. He offers to finalize adoptions in cases involving the placement of children through Child Protective Services.
