Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

Represented a party whose former spouse cyber stalked not only the client but immediate and extended family members, invading their privacy, and attempting to alienate the children. Resulted in a modification of custody in favor of the client and criminal consequences to the former spouse. The children are currently thriving in their new home.

How did you build a successful practice?

I built a successful family law practice as a result of several years representing the Department of Family and Children Services prosecuting abuse and neglect cases while also handling general litigation matters. This resulted in professional contacts, and satisfied clients who referred, and still send me, business.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Good credentials and a compatible personality. Willingness to listen to their needs and structure a plan of action to address those. Some people need to litigate. Some don't. The lawyer needs to be able to distinguish between the two and use the right approach for the situation. They also need to be flexible and change plans as situations change.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

Knowing as much as possible about your particular judge, opposing counsel, and the usual outcomes for that particular community is extremely helpful. It can save time, money, and insure reasonable expectations and a satisfactory outcome.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

A lot of experience, tenacity, and patience.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Helping people navigate difficult times successfully.

What are your other interests in addition to law?

My family. Education policy. Child welfare. Travel.

Are you involved in your community?

My husband and I are longtime residents of the Morningside/Virginia Highlands community. I have been active in supporting our neighborhood public schools and recreation programs. I have also volunteered professional services to the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation, Georgia Council on Child Abuse, Atlanta Outreach Center, State Bar High School Mock Trial Committees (regional and national), and National Council of Jewish Women over the years since I became a member of the Bar.
