Courtney is a native Mississippian, born and raised in Clarksdale. She attended the University of Mississippi and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2007. During her undergraduate career, she was inducted into multiple academic societies, including Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi. She was also awarded a Taylor Medal, the highest undergraduate academic award at the University. Courtney went on to attend the University of Mississippi School of Law. In 2010, she graduated cum laude. Courtney became licensed to practice law in the states of Mississippi and Tennessee later that same year. Courtney accepted a position in the Oxford office of Markow Walker, P.A., in April 2011. Courtney’s practice is dedicated to workers’ compensation defense, where she now has over 8 years of experience. Outside of work, Courtney enjoys instructing spin classes, traveling, and spending time with her family and husband, Kevin.

After obtaining his undergraduate degree from the University of Mississippi, John attended the University of Mississippi School of Law, where he graduated in 2001. While in law school, he was a member of the Moot Court Board and the Mississippi Law Journal. John has been with Markow Walker, P.A., for over 18 years, and he is a shareholder in the firm’s Oxford office. His practice focuses primarily in the areas of civil litigation and workers’ compensation defense. He has worked extensively in matters involving medical malpractice, appellate work, mass tort, workers’ compensation, and various aspects of insurance defense in tort-related matters. He has lectured on specific topics involving subrogation and defense of employers and carriers in workers’ compensation. John is licensed to practice law in both Mississippi and Tennessee. John is a devoted fan of the Ole Miss Rebels, and he has served as the Vice President of the Ole Miss Quarterback Club. John and his wife, Kimberly, reside in Oxford and enjoy attending Ole Miss sporting events and are members of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

After graduating from Southeastern Louisiana University, Jeff obtained his law degree from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 2001. He has been with Markow Walker, P.A., for more than fifteen years, and he is the managing shareholder in the firm’s Gulf Coast office. An experienced litigator, Jeff has taken cases to verdict or award in state court, federal court, administrative proceedings and arbitration. He also handles the appellate work associated with these claims and has acted as mediator for other parties in both civil litigation and workers’ compensation matters. His clients include small businesses, corporations, and insurance carriers. His primary practice areas are insurance coverage issues, workers’ compensation, motor vehicle and truck accidents, construction defect, and premises liability. Jeff and his wife, Jennifer, live in Ocean Springs with their children, Noah and Ella. He is a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church.

T.G. is a graduate of the A.B. Freeman School of Business, Tulane University. He subsequently obtained his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 1989. T.G. represented corporate and financial creditors in bankruptcy and foreclosure practice in his early career. He then joined Markow Walker, P.A., in 1994, and is the firm’s Managing Shareholder. T.G. devotes his practice primarily to state workers’ compensation litigation in front of the Mississippi Workers’ Compensation Commission on trial and appellate levels, on behalf of employers and insurance carriers, as well as, self-insured employers and their third-party administrators. He participates in various seminars on the subject of workers’ compensation, including presentations at the MWCEA’s Annual Worker’s Compensation Conference, and MASI’s CSIWCP program. T.G. is presently on the Mississippi Workers’ Compensation Education Association Board of Directors and is the current Vice President. He is an approved mediator of the Kid’s Chance Scholarship Mediation Program of the Mississippi Workers’ Compensation Commission.

Jared Hawkins was born and raised in Belzoni, Mississippi. After completing his undergraduate education at the University of Mississippi in 2008, where he studied mathematics, he furthered his education at Mississippi College School of Law, where he graduated in December 2010. Jared became licensed to practice law in the state of Mississippi in April 2011. He is a member of the Mississippi Bar, and he is admitted to practice before all Mississippi State Courts, as well as the Northern and Southern U.S. District Courts and Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Jared accepted a position with Markow Walker, P.A. in 2011. Jared devotes his practice primarily to workers’ compensation defense, which includes handling all matters before the Mississippi Workers’ Compensation Commission, in addition to the Mississippi Court of Appeals and the Mississippi Supreme Court. In order to help educate his clients on current issues and law changes, Jared speaks at seminars routinely and upon request. He also prepares a monthly blog for his clients which pulls the curtain back on his personal life, while giving educational information related to topics in the workers’ compensation arena. While knowing the specific needs of each client is critical, Jared also enjoys getting to know his clients on a more personal level. When Jared is not practicing law, he enjoys spending time with his family. Jared is married to his beautiful wife, Stephanie, and they have two children, Sawyer and Charlotte. Jared and his family attend Highland Colony Baptist Church. He is an active member of his community, and he enjoys giving back when he can. He gives his time to coach his children in their various activities. Jared also lives a very active lifestyle, and he enjoys such activities as Crossfit, golf and attending Ole Miss sporting events.

Pete and his wife, Jenny are the parents of 2 sons: Mark and Majure. He enjoys golf, hunting, yard work and playing with his 2 grand children. He is a member of St. Richard’s Catholic Church.

Michael was born and raised in Pascagoula, Mississippi. He subsequently earned undergraduate degrees from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and Mississippi College, before earning his juris doctor degree from Mississippi College in 1997. Michael began and continues his legal career with Markow Walker, with over twenty (20) years of experience, with the majority of his practice being dedicated to defending employers, carriers, self-insureds and third party administrators in workers’ compensation matters in Mississippi. He has also been bestowed a Preeminent AV rating through Martindale-Hubbell, as determined by his professional peers. Michael is active in the professional community and is a member of Madison County Bar Association, Mississippi Association of Self Insurers, Home Builders Association of Mississippi, and National Association of Home Builders. Michael has been married to his wife, Ann, for more than twenty (20) years, and they have two (2) children, Peyton and Brayden. Michael and his family spend a lot of time at sporting events for the children and church activities at Broadmoor Baptist Church. He also enjoys yard work, hunting, fishing, golf, and almost any activity outside.

Phillip began his legal career when he joined Markow Walker, P.A., in 2001. He primarily devotes his practice to workers’ compensation defense. He is rated AV preeminent for the Highest Level of Professional Excellence by Martindale-Hubbell and was recognized by Best Lawyers for 2018 and 2019. Phillip and his wife, Margaret Blake, reside in Oxford, Mississippi, and have three children, Caldwell, Tom, and Charles. Phillip and his family are members of First Presbyterian Church in Oxford. Away from work, he enjoys spending time with his children and listening to Van Morrison. Phillip and Tom love cheering on the Ole Miss Rebels and Kansas City Chiefs.

Zakia Butler-Chamberlain is an Associate Attorney at Singleton Schreiber, where she brings a wealth of experience to our Personal Injury, Mass Torts & Environmental Litigation practice groups. Ms. Chamberlain is a native of Pocahontas, Mississippi and a lifelong resident of the state. Prior to joining Singleton Schreiber, Ms. Chamberlain began her legal career as junior staff attorney for a Standing Chapter 13 Bankruptcy Trustee. Ms. Chamberlain went on to serve as a law clerk for the Hon. Latrice Westbrooks on the Mississippi Court of Appeals. After her court experience, Ms. Chamberlain joined the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office as a Special Assistant Attorney General, where she represented the State of Mississippi in felony criminal appeals. Ms. Chamberlain most recently served as a Staff Attorney at the Office of the State Public Defender in Jackson, MS, where she represented indigent clients on direct appeals from felony criminal convictions. Ms. Chamberlain graduated from the Mississippi College School of Law, after attaining a bachelor's degree in biology from Tougaloo College in Jackson, MS. She is an active member of the Mississippi Bar Association, Magnolia Bar Association, Mississippi Public Defenders Association, Mississippi Association for Justice and the Charles Clark Chapter of the American Inns of Court. Ms. Chamberlain is barred and licensed to practice in the State of Mississippi.
