Questions & Answers
Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
The 50 Million Dollar Bank Fraud Case was about a woman whom immigrated here from Liberia. She worked her way up from teller to personal banker at Wells Fargo. She was so successful as a banker, Wells Fargo adorned her with many awards including a vacation to Hawaii. However, on the word of a Fraudster, the U.S. Government Indicted her and painted her as one of the masterminds in a nationwide conspiracy to defraud banks. However, other than the word of a known criminal, there was absolutely no evidence supporting the allegations against her. Even after presenting the irrefutable evidence to the Government in a series of meetings, the U.S. Attorney insisted in prosecuting her. During trial I proved that my client was innocent. The jury agreed and acquitted her. She was facing 30 years in Federal Prison, she is now FREE.
How did you build a successful practice?
Long Hours, tenacious, plodding and unrelenting research and advocacy. Cracking the nut of every case by paying attention to details and drawing them out in understandable ways for juries and judges to see. Respond to every call in a timely manner. Give potential clients the time they need to explain their case and always advise clients on the most cost effective solution to the problem.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
Honesty and practical real world advise focused on real outcomes.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
I practice in two States and two Federal Districts. Although local knowledge is important, admitting you don't know everything and asking questions of each court officer (clerks, prosecutors and even judges) is more important.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
A practical overview about what to expect for their type of case, whether civil or criminal and the possible costs involved. Engagement in an attorney-client relationship (hiring the lawyer) is necessary to understand the detail of the facts of each case and the underlying legal conclusions.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
Shakespeare, in Hamlet, said brevity is the soul of wit. In other words, be ready to provide the lawyer with a brief, yet relevant, description of your case. Then let the lawyer ask questions about the particulars. Long drawn out scenarios are hard to understand over the phone and my lead to the wrong advice.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
I give you the information necessary to make an informed decision. I will not scare you into pleading guilty or lull you into thinking everything is ok when it is not. If you are certain you need to fight your case, I am ready, willing and able to pick it.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Successful outcomes.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
I like to ride my motorcycle and train at my local MMA Gym. Not surprisingly, I like to fight.
Are you involved in your community?
When the opportunity presents itself, I aid people with disabilities understand how adaptive devices can assist them with computer usage.
