Najla Abu-Shaaban has also done an extensive amount of pro-bono work helping women who have been left alone to support their children. She has set up foundations to promote continuous support for these women and children while managing to shield their identities for their own safety. She continues to do this now focusing on children whose schools have been compromised during a war.

I had a case last year in which I was asked to help a lady give status to her husband. Her husband needed to achieve status here in the United States. He was from an area that was torn apart by war and it would have been very difficult for him to go back there. He would not have been safe and he would not have been able to lead a normal life. My office helped him achieve status and the whole process took place here. He was able to stay with his wife and with his children and is now achieving his dream and his goals.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?I speak to my clients as I speak to my family. I am honest and I care about my cases. I care about my clients and my client\'s families. I will always be honest with my clients as I would my family.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?Seeing my clients relax knowing I am now on their side.
