About Nancy
Nancy K. Wiest is an associate in the firm. Ms. Wiest has practiced in the public and private sector, focusing primarily in administrative law.
Previously, Ms. Wiest served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Michigan. She successfully prosecuted cases involving Wetland Protection, preservation of inland lakes and streams, and solid waste management. She represented the Department of Natural Resources, defending the state plan for controlling the importation of out-of-state solid waste into the state of Michigan. She defeated local government attempts to tax the state on Great Lake Bottomlands.
As counsel for the Wurtsmith Base Closure Authority, Ms. Wiest drafted contracts and subleases allowing businesses to lease buildings during the interim period when the base was being transferred from the United States Air Force back to the state of Michigan. She coordinated transfer of state land with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, Oscoda Township, and local business organizations.
On behalf of the Michigan Department of Agriculture, Ms. Wiest prosecuted violations involving illegal use of pesticides and violations of Michigan Motor Fuel Quality Act.
Ms. Wiest has represented and litigated matters for state agencies governed by the Michigan Public Health Code, including the Michigan Board of Medicine and the Board of Nursing.

As an Adjunct Instructor Grand Valley State University, Aquinas College, and the American Bar Accredited Paralegal program at Davenport University, Ms. Wiest taught contracts, torts, product liability, agency, business organizations, administrative law, employment law, consumer protection and environmental law to future business leaders.
