About N.

N. Thomas Weems is an accomplished trial and appellate lawyer with over a decade of legal experience in family and financial matters, and a proven track record of success. Prior to establishing his current firm, Integrated Family Solutions PLLC in 2016, Mr. Weems worked largely as a solo practitioner in various aspects of law, though he has traditional focused on marriage and family law cases.

In addition to his extensive experience as an attorney, he is active in the non-profit community as well. As but one example, he served as an Associate Board Member of Recovery Resources, a non-profit organization that works with individuals, families, and children from 2013-2014. He is also a Member of the Choctaw Nation of the Oklahoma Bar Association, and a member of the Family Law Section of the Oklahoma Bar Association.

Mr. Weems is an active member of the United Methodist Church, and has led volunteer efforts to reach out to those in transitional homeless housing and those suffering from other maladies. In addition, he has volunteered on behalf of veterans and for families of those in treatment for cancer.

Educationally, Mr. Weems graduated from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 2005, where he served on the Editorial Board of the “American Indian Law Review” and earned honors for his studies in Evidence. He was admitted to the Oklahoma Bar on September 27, 2005. In addition to his legal degree, Mr. Weems has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the College of William & Mary (Williamsburg, Virginia), which was founded in 1693 and is the second oldest chartered college or university in the United States, along with being the alma mater of Thomas Jefferson, among many other Founding Fathers. At the College of William & Mary, he graduated with cum laude honors and was the awarded the Jeanne A. Ito Memorial Award as the most outstanding Sociology major student of his graduating class.

Presently, Mr. Weems is enrolled at the University of Oklahoma (Tulsa Campus), where he is finishing his Masters degree in Social Work (MSW), though his studies do not interfere with and complement his legal work. Mr. Weems has also studied at McGill University (generally considered the top university in Canada), and at Oxford University in the United Kingdom, and is certified in aspects of chemical dependency treatment, which he believes assist in many family law cases. He brings a vast and diverse background of education and experience beyond the scope of merely law, which he feels contributes to his success.

Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

Very recently, I successfully re-united a divorced father with his Oklahoma son, who had been unable to return to Oklahoma from his Eastern seaboard home due to financial constraints. I did not take the case expecting to become wealthy, and charged very little. That said, I made myself available as needed, even beyond normal business hours, and was able to secure visitation that to him, once seemed impossible and unaffordable to seek.

How did you build a successful practice?

It boils down, in my view, to trust between the attorney and client. To me, that means following through, and remaining objective, and not being afraid to share good news or bad news - so long as the client's best interests are kept in mind.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Experience is important. I have been a Member of the Oklahoma Bar Association for over a decade and focused exclusively on Family Law cases. However, there must be mutual trust and respect between the attorney and client. The client should never feel talked down to, nor patronized. She or he should always trust that the attorney is honest, forthright and will always provide sound, credible advice based upon education, experience, and knowledge of the law.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

It certainly helps, but in the end, the law is the same in every county at the state level. I have practiced in a number of counties, and while the peculiarities of the locality may vary, the ability to utilize my skills and knowledge have seen me through even in new places.

Are you involved in your community?

I am very active in the community. I am church member, and serve in leadership roles in the church and in volunteer work. I work with people of all faiths, or even no faith, though in my personal life, it helps me. What I find most rewarding is helping others in whatever capacity I can. I am pursuing a Masters in Social Work in Tulsa at nights and on weekends to supplement my legal skills. So, obviously, helping people of all backgrounds, races, classes, religions, genders, and socioeconomic status is what drives me to do my professional work and my work in the community.
