About Paulette

Paulette was born and raised in the New York City metropolitan area. She attended The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania where she majored in marketing and received a Bachelor of Science in Economics. After graduation from Wharton, Paulette worked in the field of Information Technology. At IBM she worked with small and medium-sized businesses installing mid-range computer systems and then progressed to consulting and training small and medium sized businesses incorporating personal computers into their IT programs as a software consultant for Computer Land.

Paulette moved to Overland Park, Kansas, where she developed a deep appreciation of the Midwestern lifestyle. She attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law where she received the Bureau of National Affairs Law Student Award. During law school she worked as an intern for the Missouri Attorney General in the Consumer Affairs Division and for a local Kansas City law firm. After graduation, she worked for Legal Aid of Western Missouri representing individuals threatened with eviction and predatory lending victims, faced with imminent foreclosure.

Paulette moved on to work for two prominent Kansas City law firms specializing in creditor’s rights where she gained extensive experience handling retail and commercial collections for banking and financial institutions, credit unions, educational institutions, manufacturers, wholesalers, medical providers, utility companies and insurance companies. She has litigated consumer class action cases nationwide involving claims under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act. As a result of such representation she has been admitted to practice in other states on a case by case basis. Paulette also counsels clients on compliance and privacy issues helping creditors and collection agencies nationwide stay in compliance with state and federal law.

While counseling clients during the litigation process, Paulette relies on her business and legal background and employs a mix of litigation and business skills, counseling clients at each step of the litigation process to determine which cases should be settled, resolved in an alternative forum, or litigated in court. Although she is regularly successful on her clients’ behalf through negotiation and dispositive motions, she possesses significant trial experience and has brought clients successfully through mediation and alternate dispute resolution. She continues to represent clients in commercial litigation before state and federal courts. Her litigation experience includes defense of a broad range of commercial disputes including breach of contract, business tort, fraud, employer contributions under ERISA, and commercial leasing. She will continue to defend and to pursue claims for her clients whether in civil, probate, federal, or bankruptcy court.
