Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
I have many high profile cases the last year involving teachers being assaulted,teachers being alleged to have stolen money,and many discrimination cases and criminal defense cases.The clients can read about my case ,teacher John Ekblad being a victim of assault in the Star and Tribune and Pioneer Press.
How did you build a successful practice?
I built my practice by winning major cases over my 36 years of practice and by teaching seminars and classes on the law,professional ethics,and trial skills.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
Clients should look for lawyers with a lot of experience in trying cases and a winning record is also important.I think it is also important to find a lawyer that has received awards and commendations in their areas of practice.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Local knowledge of the areas I practice is very important as well as being know in the community as a leader in providing legal services.

I prefer to meet with clients in person rather than giving legal advice over the phone.Our first consultation is free.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
When we meet with a client we obtain all the facts of the case from the client as well where they are in the legal proceedings.

I think I am compassionate and caring in dealing with client problems.Clients know I am a good listener and that I am committed to taking care of their legal problems based on my experience,knowledge, and skills.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
The most rewarding part of my work is winning for my clients and making a difference in the lives of men,women,and children.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
I am an avid reader,sports enthusiast such as hockey and football, and spending time with my three adult children.
Are you involved in your community?
I volunteer as a judge in mock trial competitions at the college and high school level.I teach law courses at The University of St.Thomas.I also do some work with the homeless over the years.
