About Richard
Richard C. Hyman has over twenty years experience as a litigator in various courts throughout Massachusetts. From his dedicated commitment to his clients and his determination to provide premium legal services, attorney Hyman has consistently obtained successful results through negotiations, trials and arbitration hearings.
Respected by both his fellow attorneys and the judges before whom he appears, Attorney Hyman has consistently obtained results which garner the admiration and appreciation of his clients. At the same time, he has held firmly to his belief that each and every client deserves to be treated with honesty, respect and empathy. Additionally, Mr. Hyman is ever mindful that the legal concern for which he has been entrusted is among the most important matters his client is facing, and he accordingly gives it the attention it rightfully deserves.
Mr. Hyman graduated from Virginia Tech in 1981 and received his law degree upon graduating cum laude from New England School of Law in 1985. After law school, Mr. Hyman served two years as a clerk for a United States Judge within the Department of Labor. He thereafter began his career as a litigator for small to mid-sized litigation firms. During his first four years as a practicing attorney, Mr. Hyman primarily represented individuals concerning personal injuries cases. It was during this period that he began his wealth of trial experience appearing before judges in the state and federal courts, as well as at the Department of Industrial Accidents regarding workers' compensation claims and the Office of Hearings and Appeals relative to Social Security Disability claims.
In 1991 Attorney Hyman began assisting clients in the fields of family law and personal bankruptcy. He joined with his partner, Ira Yellin, in forming Yellin & Hyman, P.C. in 1997 and continues representing clients from varied economic and social backgrounds in furtherance of their legal needs. During his years of experience handling bankruptcy cases, Attorney Hyman has assisted hundreds of individuals and families in obtaining debt relief, in saving their house from foreclosure and in securing a fresh start on the road to financial stability. Mr. Hyman also has vast experience in the area of family law, having represented clients before the Probate and Family Courts on issues ranging from divorce, paternity, child support, visitation, alimony, modifications and contempt actions.
Mr. Hyman is admitted to practice in all courts of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as well as the United States District Court and United States Bankruptcy Court and is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association. Attorney Hyman is also active within his community, is a member of Hyde Park Main Streets and has volunteered several years as a coach of children's soccer and youth baseball.
