About Richard
Rick was born in Pearisburg, Virginia on July 18, 1949. Rick received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Tulane University in 1971, pursued his graduate degree in education from TCU in 1973, and received a Juris Doctor degree from Loyola University School of Law in 1980.
While attending law school, Mr. Kingrea played in the National Football League for the Cleveland Browns, Buffalo Bills and the New Orleans Saints. He served as NFL Players representative from 1974-1978. From 1978 until 1982 Mr. Kingrea worked as a program manager and counsel for Halter Marine Services, Inc. a New Orleans based ship builder.
Following his work at Halter, Mr. Kingrea went to work for a boutique New Orleans Louisiana law firm, where his primary focus was in the area of maritime law. Mr. Kingrea then joined a large regional law firm, and remained a partner there until he resigned in 2003 to open an alternative dispute resolution practice in Fairhope, Alabama and to work for Perry, Dampf, Watts and Associates, a mediation firm based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Mr. Kingrea is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts within Alabama and Louisiana, the Fifth and Eleventh Circuit Courts of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
Rick's area of legal practice includes maritime and admiralty litigation, construction law, general litigation, railroad law, and alternative dispute resolution practice.
Mr. Kingrea is a member of the Alabama Bar Association, the Louisiana State Bar Association, the Alabama State Court Mediation Roster, the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel, and the Southeastern Admiralty Law Institute. Mr. Kingrea is also a former member of the Board of Directors for the American Red Cross of Baton Rouge, Academic Distinction Fund, President of the Fairhope Educational Enrichment Foundation, and is a member of the Senior Bowl Committee of Mobile, Alabama.
