About Richard
Mr. Koch is senior partner at Koch & Garvis, LLC. He takes pride in his 35-year record of litigation in state courts.
Practicing in both criminal defense and civil litigation, Mr. Koch has had success because of his legal skill and knowledge of courtroom procedure and the personnel involved in the various county systems. Mr. Koch uses both his knowledge and experience in the law for the advantage of his clients.
Mr. Koch is a founding member of both the National College for DUI Defense and the Minnesota Society for Criminal Justice, and is a member of the Minnesota Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
He has been professionally trained in the use of the Intoxilyzer 5000, which is the machine currently used to test individuals' breath for a drunk-driving charge, and has extensive knowledge of Minnesota DUI law.
Mr. Koch's practice focuses on Minnesota and federal criminal defense, personal injury and wrongful death claims, family law and divorce, defending professionals in licensure hearings, and professional malpractice defense.
After 35 years in practice, concern for people with legal problems still motivates him.
