Dick practices in the areas of business and employment litigation, including contracts, commercial, real estate, corporate, banking, and bankruptcy litigation. His trial court, administrative, and appellate victories include: Clarinda Color, LLC v. Nelson, et al, a major decision concerning fraudulent transfers; Denelsbeck v. Wells Fargo & Co., an important decision concerning bank notifications to customers; Newsom v. Donaldsons, believed to be the largest emotional distress award in Minnesota for racial harassment; Airlines Reporting Corporation v. Norwest Bank, N.A., concerning letters of credit; TCF Mortgage Corp. v. Verex Assurance, Inc., the leading case in Minnesota on mortgage insurance law; Ohio Calculating, Inc. v. CPT Corp., an important case governing the rights of distributorships and manufacturers; Bergquist v. Anderson-Greenwood Aviation Corp., a major bankruptcy case; and Eklund v. Vincent Brass and Aluminum Co., one of the most significant wrongful termination cases in Minnesota. Dick also won a First Amendment victory in the United States Supreme Court in 1997.

Dick was born and raised in the Minneapolis area. He graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Amherst College in 1974, and with honors from the University of Michigan Law School in 1978, where he was named an editor of the Law Review. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the Minnesota State Bar Association, and has published articles and taught on banking litigation, legal ethics, employment law and bankruptcy law.
