About James
In personal injury cases, I try to reach a fair settlement as soon as possible. However, if I cannot reach an agreement with the insurance company, I am prepared to file a lawsuit and conduct a jury trial. I have extensive jury experience and I am very persuasive with juries.
I started practicing law in Black River Falls, Wisconsin in 1978. I was District Attorney for Jackson County in 1981 and 1982. In January 1983, I opened my own law office. I will be here practicing law for many years in the office I bought after my term as prosecuting attorney.
My experience as Boy Scoutmaster, President of the Lutheran Church Council and President of the Youth Hockey Association gives me good standing in the community. I am able to talk to a wide variety of people.
I was pleased to help a woman collect her share of the VIOXX settlement fund. Despite the lack of pharmecuticaI records, she is enjoying a nice settlement.
I am also engaged in the general practice of law. I can help you on a variety of cases including worker's compensation, social security claims, real estate, taxes, probate, bankruptcy, Indian law, and other legal matters.
In 2008, I represented 2 persons who were charged with felonies and were found NOT GUILTY by juries.
Additional Info:
I won 2 criminal jury trials in the last 9 months representing innocent defendants.
I offer 10 minute free consultations on any legal matter.
I have been practicing law for 38 years.
Please contact me for an initial consultation.

Notable Work
Defendant-Appellant: Attorney for the defendant-appellant, John Maloney. Maoloney appealed two judgements which convicted him of delivering a controlled substance. The appellant argues that the informant was acting in a law enforcement capacity when he recorded their conversations and had not obtained authorization and therefore testimony from the informant should not be admissible in court. The trial court did suppress the recording and relied solely on the testimony of the informant. The appeals court found that the trial court acted appropriately and agreed that then informant acquired the conversation in his mind and therefore his testimony was valid. The judgement of conviction was affirmed and petition to review was denied.
WAUKAU and GREENDEER v. HO-CHUNK NATION ELECTION BOARD
Attorney for the Appellants in a case in which said Appellants that theTrial Court had erred in not ordering a new election. Appellant Court confirmed the Trial Court's original decision.
