About Robert
Robert Taylor was born in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, on July 19, 1950. He attended Oklahoma State University, graduating with a Bachelor's degree in 1972. He earned a Juris Doctorate from the University of Tulsa in 1976 and was admitted to the Oklahoma Bar Association in September of that year. He is admitted to practice in all state and federal districts in Oklahoma. He is a member of the Tulsa County and State of Oklahoma bar associations and the Oklahoma Association of Defense Counsel.
In 1987, Mr. Taylor joined the firm of Knowles & King, which is now Taylor, Ryan, Schmidt & Van Dalsem, P.C. He has been lead counsel in more than 150 civil jury trials. In the field of personal and bodily injury, he has handled cases arising from automobile accidents, premises liability, medical malpractice, attorney malpractice, products liability, airplane accidents, intentional torts, civil rights actions and discrimination. In the areas of commercial and property litigation, he has handled cases involving contracts, breach of warranty, land use planning, environmental issues, nuisance, and interference with property rights. He has also handled declaratory judgment actions in federal court. He has defended bad faith cases arising from automobile, property and health insurance coverage. He has defended property claims against commercial, homeowners and automobile policies.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Taylor worked with the firm of Rogers, Honn & Associates, which was a defense practice consisting of medical malpractice, products liability, premises liability, business torts and automobile negligence. Prior to that he worked for Richard D. Gibbon, who at the time was an insurance defense attorney. The firm eventually became Gibbon, Gladd, Taylor, Smith & Hickman, and it was the primary defense firm in eastern Oklahoma for Mid-Continent Casualty Company, Allstate Insurance Company, and several other insurers.
