About Robert

Robert Wegman is a Chesapeake Attorney serving the Hampton Roads (Tidewater), Virginia, area.

Mr. Wegman, whose law practice is focused on the Tidewater, Virginia area, specializes in traffic offenses, including Reckless Driving, DUI/DWI, and Speeding. He is also a criminal and military defense attorney, where he has handled, among many other criminal activities, illegal drug possession/distribution cases, sexual assault/rape, larceny cases, and probation violation cases.

Attorney Wegman's family law/domestic relations legal services include:  contested and uncontested divorces, child custody, child support, adoptions and domestic assault and battery criminal law cases.

Mr. Wegman has been a lawyer for over nineteen years, mostly in the traffic, DUI, criminal, and military defense areas. He has served as both a JAG Attorney, where he handled hundreds of Coast Guard, and Navy courts-martial and administrative separation/discharge board cases, as well as a Special Assistant United States Attorney, where he prosecuted cases that were alleged to have occurred on Navy and Coast Guard installations.

Additionally, Attorney Wegman handles estate planning issues, including Wills, Powers of Attorney, Advance Medical Directives (aka Living Wills), and probate matters.

Litigation is clearly Attorney Wegman's strong suit.  Whether it's a civil contract, landlord/tenant dispute, criminal or traffic matter, if you decide your legal case just needs (or has) to go to court, Mr. Wegman is the lawyer with the experience and skills you want by your side.

Mr. Wegman was a trusted associate of the prestigious law firm of Paul Hastings, where he was involved in Superfund sites, Brownfields site development, and he even represented the INTREPID SEA AIR SPACE MUSEUM in asbestos litigation with the New York City Department of Environmental Quality. His practice involved quite a bit of evaluation of Phase I and Phase Envir9oionmental Site Assessment,to ensure the purchase could escape liability if hazardous material were later found at the site.  One of his  more interesting projects was the renovation of the famed APOLLO THEATER in Harlem.

Though Attorney Wegman is often described as a tough criminal defense, domestic, and civil litigator, he is skilled at providing legal advice or litigation services on a wide range of other legal matters, from purchase and sale agreements/contracts, expungements, driver's license issues, including restoration, estate planning, personal injury, and medical malpractice to probation violation cases, and bond hearings.  He knows all of the probation officers, the prosecutors, and judges, and he is often able to resolve legal issues before they get out of control.

Fees can be either fixed or hourly depending on the type of legal matter. Generally, traffic and criminal matters are fixed.
