Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

I have been able to help families by obtaining guardianships for them for their family members who need assistance. My firm also has close working relationships with many geriatric case managers who assist our clients with placement and on-going decisions for their loved ones. I have a holistic practice that uses many professionals in the best interest of my people - real estate agents, insurance agents, financial advisors. There is no one answer for all situations - each case is one to assist making sure that the loved one gets to live to the utmost of their abilities.

How did you build a successful practice?

My practice has been built on word of mouth and referrals. I am proud that I receive referrals from courts and other lawyers as well as from former clients.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

In Elder Law, knowledge of the local resources is crucial. Many of my people come into my office with misconceptions of how Medicaid works or what resources are available to help them keep their parent at home instead of in a nursing home. Here at Zapor Law Office, P.C., we pride ourselves on providing the best and most current information available so our people can make an informed decision on what is best for them.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

Because of many factors, there are limited items that can be discussed in a telephone consultation. I can discuss many issues in general terms, but cannot provide legal advice unless I have all of the data in front of me. I can inform you on the process for probate in Colorado, where to find information on Guardianships and Conservatorships, where to download my book on Medicaid in Colorado.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

I am a wife, a mother, and the adult child who cared for my own mother who had dementia. I have other family members who have a traumatic brain injury. In other words, I have dealt with the same issues as my clients. I am not a lawyer who knows about these problems, I have lived them and can identify many plain resolutions instead of complex ones. I can also identify what is truly a legal issue and what is an issue that needs to be addressed by another professional in a cost effective way.
