Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

We recently had the privilege of representing a man to obtain sole custody of a beautiful 16-year old girl who was born out of wedlock from a woman who is not married, but is sexually active and addicted to various non-prescription drugs. Our firm also recently resolved a complex community property partition, wherein the ex-wife had separate property that she was attempting to hide because she owed a substantial reimbursement claim to our client from community funds that benefited her separate property.

How did you build a successful practice?

For 40 years, I have built a successful law practice maintaining a great staff with many years of experience and competent associate attorneys based upon the process of returning phone calls promptly, copying the clients on all documentation that comes in and out of our office concerning their file, and rendering detailed monthly statements, setting forth the legal services rendered on a per day basis, with a complete itemization of all expenses incurred. We also believe in briefing the clients frequently on the status of their case and strategizing with them concerning all activity, so that they not only understand the status, but clearly approve the direction in which we pursue the resolution of the legal issues.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Clients should look for an attorney who is through, competent, compassionate, and truly interested in promptly responding to their concerns.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

Local knowledge is very important to the success of any case. I personally clerked for the District Judges in the Parish of Jefferson when I began my practice 40 years ago. I was born and reared in the metropolitan area of New Orleans where I have continued to maintain my practice of law.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

I personally handle all incoming telephone calls and provide the prospective clients the insight they need to understand their legal issues, including what is necessary to resolve them and the approximate expense to bring the case to a conclusion.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

The information needed in the initial free telephone consultation is a clear concise understanding of the facts to apply the law as it concerns the involved parties.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

I believe that the practice of law, particularly domestic matters, is my ministry. In other words, I have a purpose in life to use the talent that God gave me to be a vessel of healing and hope in the lives of the clients that I am privileged to serve.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

The most rewarding aspect of my work is when I get affirmation that I have had a positive effect on the client, meaning that the client is in a better position when we conclude their case than before the client came to our firm for legal services.

What are your other interests in addition to law?

Other than the practice of law, my primary interests are to develop a more personal relationship with God, to be a more positive influence upon my entire family and to effectively service my community.

Are you involved in your community?

I am involved in my church and actively participate in the New Orleans Chapter of the Christian Legal Society (clsnet.org).
