About Sally

Sally A. Thomas, who earned an undergraduate degree from St. Mary-of-the-Woods College and a master's from the University of Notre Dame, graduated from the Northeastern University School of Law in Boston in 1984.   Just prior to law school, she worked for six years as the national organizer for NETWORK, a peace and justice lobby in Washington, D.C.  After graduation, Ms. Thomas served for 12 years as a staff attorney for Legal Services Organization of Indiana, representing poor persons suffering from spouse abuse or child abuse.  She also represented people in administrative law appeals for Medicaid, unemployment benefits, and Social Security Supplemental Income. Her primary area of concentration, family law, includes all adoptions, as well as divorce, child custody, child support modifications, and guardianships. In 1984, the Fort Wayne native was admitted to practice in Indiana and the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Indiana.  Ms. Thomas is a Fellow of the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys, a member of the Sherman Minton Inns of Court and the Indiana Supreme Court Committee on Character and Fitness.  She is a member of the Indiana State and Floyd County Bar Associations, served six years as a board member for the Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum, and two of those years as board treasurer. She is currently a member of the boards of directors of St. Elizabeth's/Catholic Charities, The Carnegie Center for Art and History, and the Floyd County and Washington County CASA.
