About Scott

Scott is a shareholder in the firm of Kennedy & Graven, Chartered, and practices in the areas of Business Law, Economic Development and Redevelopment, Employment Law, Local Government Law, Litigation, and Real Estate Law.

Scott currently is the city attorney for the cities of Faribault, Kenyon, Mounds View, Nerstrand, New Prague, Oak Grove, and West Concord, and is involved in the firm's representation of other cities, various economic development agencies,  a utility commission, a cable commission and various townships.

In addition to practicing law, Scott was an adjunct instructor of Business Law at Anoka-Ramsey Community College (Cambridge Campus) and is an adjunct professor at William Mitchell College of Law, teaching Local Government Law. He is a frequent lecturer and co-authored with Floyd B. Olson and Daniel J. Greensweig, The Future of Impact Fees in Minnesota , 24 Wm. Mitchell L. Rev. 635 (1998).

Before joining Kennedy & Graven in 1997, Scott worked for two years as a congressional staff assistant for Congressman James Oberstar and for three years as an associate with a local law firm, practicing in the areas of municipal law, civil litigation, criminal prosecution and real estate law.

Scott received his B.A. in Economics and Political Science, from St. Olaf College in 1988. In 1994, he received his law degree from William Mitchell College of Law. While in law school, Scott was a staff member for the William Mitchell Law Review and served as a law clerk for the League of Minnesota Cities and the League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust.

Among his many community service activities, Scott is active in the Habitat for Humanity and the Metro Paint-A-Thon. He also coaches youth hockey and soccer.
