Albert J. Dib is a native Detroiter, and a 1980 graduate of Wayne State University Law School. He has taught Medical Malpractice, Litigation Skills, Pretrial Advocacy, and Health Law at both Wayne State University Law School and University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, where he has been Adjunct Professor of Law. He is past-president of the Wayne State University Law School Alumni Association, and currently a member of the WSU Law School’s Board of Visitors. He authored the ANNUAL SURVEY OF MICHIGAN LAW, “Medical Malpractice,” 2005 – 2006 in The Wayne Law Review, and “Ethical Conduct and Effective Lawyering, Plaintiff’s Perspective,” presented at the 26th Annual Law Seminar, Institute of Continuing Legal Education. Mr. Dib focuses his practice in medical and professional negligence, including the highly specialized field of catastrophically injured children and Birth Trauma/Obstetrical Malpractice Litigation. He also serves as a special medical malpractice mediator. In addition, Mr. Dib has also taught at Central Michigan University (Legal Aspects of Health Service Organizations) and has been an invited lecturer at the Institute of Continuing Legal Education (Deposition Conduct and Objections) and the Michigan Association for Justice (Malpractice Tort Reform). Mr. Dib served on the State Bar of Michigan Grievance Committee and the District I Character and Fitness Committee. He has been an instructor for the American Association for Justice and Michigan Association for Justice at the University of Detroit-Mercy School of Law trial advocacy workshop symposium and a moot court judge at Wayne State University Law School (Arthur Neef Competition); University of Detroit-Mercy School of Law (State of Michigan and Gallagher Competitions); and Michigan State University College of Law. Mr. Dib’s current and past professional associations include: State Bar of Michigan (Negligence and Latin Sections); American Association for Justice (Past Member); Michigan Association for Justice (Sustaining Member); American Bar Association (Past Member); Detroit Bar Association (Past Member); Oakland County Bar Association; Macomb County Bar Association; Arab-American Bar Association; Detroit Trial Lawyers Association. John M. Daly practices law in New York City as The Law Office of John M. Daly. Since 1995, John also has been “Of counsel” to The Fitzgerald Law Firms focusing primarily on medical malpractice litigation; appeals; dispositive motions; post-trial motions; infant compromise orders; trusts; annuities; lien resolution; and immigration. John graduated summa cum laude from Creighton University School of Law in Omaha, Nebraska in 1984. John was Editor-in-Chief of the Creighton Law Review, author of a law review article, and a member of Alpha Sigma Nu, the National Jesuit Honor Society. John and his partner were winners of Creighton’s (annual, junior year) Appellate Moot Court Competition. John was the recipient of the Nebraska Association of Trial Attorneys’ Roscoe Pound Award for Appellate Advocacy, as well as a member of Creighton’s Philip C. Jessup International Moot Court Team. Following graduation, John served for three years as a Judge Advocate in the U.S. Marine Corps, where served as a prosecutor and he was appointed a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina, responsible for prosecuting crimes committed by civilians at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. John prosecuted felonies in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina. While serving in this capacity, John obtained a first degree murder conviction as lead prosecutor in a federal jury trial in the United States District Court in Raleigh, North Carolina. While serving as a Judge Advocate, John also tried 10 court-marshals to the military equivalent of a jury. Following his tenure as a Marine Judge Advocate, John came to New York and joined Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom as a litigation associate where, for the next four years, he worked on mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, attorney conflict of interest, and securities-related litigation matters. John then moved to Deutsche Klagsbrun & Blasband, a copyright litigation firm in Manhattan where he spent the next three years litigating intellectual property disputes in federal court before forming The Law Office of John M. Daly and his present “Of counsel” relationship with The Fitzgerald Law Firm. Before attending law school on a Marine Corps-sponsored program, John served for six years as a Marine Corps aviator, accumulating over 1300 hours as the pilot-in-command in the F-4 Phantom, a two-seat, supersonic jet fighter. John is a graduate of the U.S. Navy’s “Top Gun” Fighter Pilot Training School in Miramar, CA.

I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Miami where I clerked for the Hon. Edward Moore of the 11th Circuit Court and interned with the US Attorney for the Southern District of Florida. I have been practicing law in New York for almost 30 years. I am a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Bronx Bar Association, and I am a member of the Bronx 18B panel which appoints private attorneys to represent indigent individuals charged with crimes in the Bronx. I am admitted to practice in all of the Courts of the State of New York as well as the Southern and Eastern District Courts. I have represented clients in immigration matters in the Federal Immigration Court and before the USCIS in several different States. Working with a same-sex couple where we are on the verge of obtaining permanent residence status for the beneficiary through the Immigration court. Prio counsel didn’t take the time to listen to the clients to really establish the bona fides of the relationship Got a criminal matter dismissed on behalf of a client whose spouse had lied about him in order to obtain government benefits. The client was facing incarceration and was devastated both by the loss of the relationship, the nature of the charges and of course the consequences. We proved that the charges had been fabricated, without subjecting the client to the financial and emotional burden of a trial. How did you build a successful practice? Listening to my clients and working with them. Understanding that the client needs to be part of the process. Providing cost-effective, successful results. What should clients look for in a lawyer? Someone who has the time to handle their case. Someone who will give them an honest assessment of their matter in advance. Someone who is personable and with whom they can establish a relationship of trust. How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases? Knowing your venue and your possible Jury pool can be essential in certain types of cases, especially in personal injury matters. What information can you provide in a free phone consultation? Depending on the type of case that answer will vary greatly. A short conversation can generally point the client in the right direction and put them at ease whether or not they retain my firm. Things like the type of bankruptcy, whether they should be speaking to law enforcement, or whether they have a case at all. What information do you need in a free phone consultation? That answer will vary greatly. Generally, the nature of the case, when, where and how they the matter arose, and then the broad particulars of the matter. What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community? I believe that it is my level of empathy and my ability to visualize situations and present creative solutions that sets me apart. What is the most rewarding aspect of your job? Achieving a successful result for a client where the consequences would otherwise be truly life-changing. Things like saving someone from deportation, or jail, or crushing debt gives me a feeling that is almost indescribable. Its why I continue to practice law. What are your other interests in addition to law? My family of course. I also enjoy staying fit and outdoor activities hiking and cycling. Are you involved in your community? Besides being on the board of a local county bar association, and being on the Bronx 18b panel for appointments to criminal cases, I am a member of the NY Bar Association, and I am affiliated with the National Action Network, and STARR, (Strategic Trans Alliance for Radical Reform.

These appearances were at over 500 preliminary conferences and hundreds of depositions examining plaintiffs with actions against the City of New York. His advice was sought by Police Officers, Firefighters, Sanitation Inspectors, Public School teachers and other New York City personnel for pending litigations. In 2021 Mr. Doré was honored to be appointed to the AAJ Voter Protection Committee by President Navan Ward, Jr. President of the American Association for Justice.
