Lawyer John W. Thurston is an experienced Northeast Kansas DUI defense lawyer who has successfully completed extensive training that puts him in a unique position to defend people in Kansas against DUI charges. John has completed this course multiple times, to include completing the course with actual Kansas Highway Patrol instructors. Standardized Field Sobriety Test Instructor training. This is the course that police officers must complete if they want to become an academy-level instructor in DUI investigations. Drug Recognition Expert training, also developed by NHTSA. This is the training undergone by officers needed to investigate whether or not a citizen is driving under the influence of drugs, legal or otherwise. Few police officers actually receive this training. Very few lawyer do so. Mastering Scientific Evidence in DUI/DWI Cases - Certificate (awarded multiple times). DNA for Lawyers I - hands on DNA lab training at Boise State University. Several of the courses and certification programs John has completed are rare for a Kansas lawyer to have taken. John’s early experience includes awards won during competitive mock trial teams while at law school, and these efforts have paid off throughout his career thus far with an overwhelmingly positive track record. He has served as lead counsel prosecuting or defending multi-million dollar claims relating to anti-trust, bad faith, insurance coverage, real estate, contract, fraud, and personal injury allegations.

Jeffrey T. Sampson was born in Louisville, Kentucky on March 23, 1967. He received his B.B.A. with honors in management from the University of Kentucky, where he was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. He graduated in 1989 and then obtained his J.D. degree from the University of Louisville School of Law in 1992. Mr. Sampson is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association, the Louisville Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the American Justice Association, and the Kentucky Justice Association. He is a former member of the Board of Governors of the Kentucky Bar Association/Young Lawyer’s Section. He has lectured to professional groups on the subjects of medical malpractice and workers’ compensation. He is repeatedly identified by the Kentucky Trial Court Review as one of Kentucky’s Most Prolific Trial Lawyers. Mr. Sampson is a member of Southeast Christian Church in Louisville. He is married with three children, and enjoys time with his family, snow skiing and golf.

Attorney James E. Harris always knew that he was destined to become a lawyer. Growing up in Nebraska, he looked up to his father, who was also an attorney, and dreamed that he would one day be able to follow in his footsteps by running his own law firm. In 1975, Jim earned his Bachelor’s Degree and continued on to earn his M.B.A. in 1977 — receiving both degrees from Arizona State University. Soon after graduating with his M.B.A., Jim returned to his home state to pursue his lifelong dream of becoming an attorney. Since earning his J.D. from Creighton University School of Law in 1979, Jim has been serving the legal communities in and around Omaha, Nebraska. Today, he is a recognized, board-certified civil trial advocate through the National Board of Trial Advocacy — serving Omaha and the surrounding areas of Douglas, Sarpy, Dodge, and Lancaster counties. Josh Mitchell graduated from Jacksonville State University in 1996 and studied law at the Birmingham School of Law where he graduated in 2000. He was a Law Clerk for the Honorable N. Daniel Rogers Jr., Circuit Court Judge, 10th Judicial Circuit of Alabama from 1997 to 2001. He then joined as a partner with Bouloukos, Oglesby and Mitchell. He is a former Public Defender for the City of Leeds, Alabama and is a member of the American Bar Association, the Alabama Bar Association, the Alabama Association for Justice, the Birmingham Bar Association, and is a member of the Small Firm Section and the Bankruptcy Section of the BBA.

Richard Shea graduated from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona with a Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management in 1995 and received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Indiana University School of Law – Bloomington in 1998. He has concentrated his practice in the field of Consumer Bankruptcy for the past 11 years. Richard is a member of the Indianapolis Bar Association, the Indiana State Bar Association and the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys. He has served on the Local Rules and Procedures Advisory Committee of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Indiana and has taught at bankruptcy seminars.

Margaret Moses Branch is married to Turner W. Branch, senior partner of the Branch Law Firm. Ms. Branch is the managing partner. She is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and International Women’s Forum, named Woman of the Year in 1995. She serves on the Board of Directors of the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association and is currently on the Board of Directors of the Center for Civic Values (Interest on Legal Trust Accounts). She was Chair of the Association of Trial Lawyers Women’s Law Caucus (5,000 members) and was founding President of the New Mexico Women’s Bar Association. She has been a frequent lecturer on Continuing Legal Education programs for attorneys. Ms. Branch has served as Vice-Chair of the Association of Trial Lawyers of the America Tobacco Litigation Group. In her practice, Margaret Moses Branch has been particularly interested in women’s health issues. She has served on the Executive Committee of the Failure to Diagnose Breast Cancer ATLA Litigation Group. She was moderator for the National College of Advocacy, Medical-Legal Update Seminar, for the section entitled “Medicine and the Law: Special Issues Facing Women.” Ms. Branch served as a moderator of the ATLA National College of Advocacy, “Litigating Women’s Health Issues”. She has served as counsel in cases that involved failure to diagnose breast cancer, colon cancer, uterine cancer, pancreatitis, leukoplakia, peritonitis, appendicitis, compartment syndrome, aneurysms, pneumonia, meningitis, abruptio placenta, kernicterus, and other illnesses and diseases. She has been involved in cases that addressed issues of surgical negligence, i.e., laminectomies, cholecystectomies, colonoscopies, hernia repairs, and hip replacements. Additionally, she has been involved in cases that dealt with obstetrical issues, i.e., failure to perform timely Caesarean sections, inappropriate radiological procedures, unnecessary hysterectomies, and incomplete abortions.

William A. Simmons received his J.D. from the George Mason University School of Law in 1982 and received his undergraduate education at Randolph-Macon College, graduating with a B.A. in History in 1977. He is admitted to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia. Mr. Simmons' practice is concentrated in criminal defense and civil litigation. Mr. Simmons has an extensive background in handling and trying felony and misdemeanor cases and civil cases. Over the past thirty years, Mr. Simmons has successfully defended individuals charged with serious offenses that, if found guilty, would have exposed the client to substantial periods of incarceration. Mr. Simmons has defended serious traffic offenses, including, drunk driving, reckless driving, driving while suspended, and driving without a license.
