Attorney/Partner, Craig Van Schouwen concentrates his practice in plaintiffs’ Workers’ Compensation law. A former insurance defense attorney, Mr. Van Schouwen “changed sides” in 1995 when he joined the Valparaiso law firm. He has represented injured workers across the nation since that time. A passionate advocate for his clients, Mr. Van Schouwen takes pride in helping people get the medical treatment and benefits they need. Committed to helping the families of injured workers, Mr. Van Schouwen serves on the board of directors of Kids’ Chance, a national organization of attorneys, insurance executives, union representatives and Workers’ Compensation Board members, that provides scholarship funding for children whose parent has been injured in a catastrophic workplace accident. A former runner and cyclist, Mr. Van Schouwen has participated in three Chicago Marathons and several hundred-mile bike rides.

Nick Deets has been a partner with Hovde Dassow + Deets in Indianapolis since 2001. His primary areas of practice are personal injury, medical malpractice, product liability, and wrongful death. He has tried more than 80 jury trials to verdict. Nick was named the Trial Lawyer of the Year by the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association in 2010, Best Lawyers, Lawyer of the Year, Plaintiff’s Mass Tort Litigation/Class Actions, in 2018, and Best Lawyers, Lawyer of the Year, Plaintiff’s Medical Malpractice, in 2020. Robert Kasieta is the founder and managing member of Kasieta Legal Group. He focuses his practice on Civil Litigation. He is a member of the Dane County Bar Association, the State Bar of Wisconsin, Wisconsin Association of Justice, and American Association of Justice. Bob received his associate degree from Gogebic Community College; his bachelors degree, summa cum laude, from Northern Michigan University; and his law degree from Marquette University. He is certified as a Civil Trial Specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and has attained the highest rating, AV, from the national attorney rating service, Martindale-Hubbell. Bob also regularly teaches other lawyers. In addition, he teaches at Wisconsin Law School.

From a young age, Mr. McCubbin was driven to practice law by a desire to advocate on behalf of victims and fight for their right to recover from harms they have suffered. Mr. McCubbin joined Alpert Schreyer Injury Accident Lawyers to lead its medical malpractice division, with a goal of providing detailed, in-depth, and focused representation of a select number of carefully chosen cases annually. He believes in getting to know his clients and their stories and that each client is unique, requiring individualized attention, time, and energy. Currently, his practice focuses on representing victims of medical malpractice in all manner of medical malpractice claims, including birth injury, surgical errors, stroke and cancer misdiagnosis, sepsis, delayed treatment, cerebral palsy and Erb’s palsy, developmental delay, failure to diagnose, catastrophic injury and paralysis, anesthesia complications, and any other type of medical malpractice action. Mr. McCubbin was trial counsel in one of the Nation’s Top 100 Verdicts in 2020 against one of the largest hospital systems in the State of Maryland, after a jury awarded his client over $5,500,000 as a result of her death from complications of open-heart surgery. Based on this impressive result, Mr. McCubbin was invited into Best of the Bar, a nationwide organization that only awards membership to those attorneys who have achieved one of the top 100 verdicts in the entire United States for a given calendar year. Additionally, in 2021, Mr. McCubbin was offered admission into the National Trial Lawyers’ – Top 40 Under 40, after he was identified as one of the top trial attorneys in the area of medical malpractice in the State of Maryland. Mr. McCubbin has also been named to America’s Top 100 High Stakes Litigators. Throughout his career, Mr. McCubbin has secured millions of dollars for his clients in medical malpractice matters, through a combination of jury verdicts and settlements. He provides aggressive and focused representation and seeks to maximize his clients’ recovery through creative, detail-oriented, and innovative trial strategies, medical and legal theories, and unique presentation to the jury. After graduating with honors from both undergraduate and law school, Mr. McCubbin spent the first two years of his career as a prosecutor with the State’s Attorney’s Office in Montgomery County and Worcester County, Maryland. As an Assistant State’s Attorney, Mr. McCubbin prosecuted hundreds of cases, including multiple bench and jury trials. Following his time at the State’s Attorney’s Office, Mr. McCubbin turned his focus toward the complex area of medical malpractice litigation. For years, Mr. McCubbin represented physicians, mid-level providers, and healthcare institutions in defense of medical malpractice claims. In this role, he served as both first and second-chair trial counsel in several jury trials, defending physicians and institutions accused of medical malpractice in matters worth tens of millions of dollars. However, he soon realized that his trial skills and passion were better served representing victims of medical malpractice, rather than the physicians and healthcare facilities accused of committing malpractice. While representing victims of medical malpractice, Mr. McCubbin is able to use the skills, knowledge, and insight he learned while defending medical malpractice claims; he knows the medical-malpractice-defendants’ “play book” from his inside experience and now uses that knowledge to help victims of medical malpractice. Mr. McCubbin served as a Chairman in the Young Lawyers’ Section of the Maryland State Bar Association and remains active in that organization, as well as the Maryland Association for Justice, which is focused on plaintiffs’ rights in medical negligence and personal injury cases. He has lectured and published articles on medical malpractice matters. He lives in Annapolis with his wife and daughter. Mr. Foster’s practice is focused on catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death, aviation accidents, insurance bad faith and industrial accidents. Education Mr. Foster received a bachelor of science degree in ocean engineering from the United States Naval Academy in 1998 and received his law degree from the West Virginia University College of Law in 2007. Professional Background Mr. Foster served as surface warfare officer in the U.S. Navy from 1998 to 2004. From 2007 to 2016, Mr. Foster worked for a regional law firm and specialized in personal injury litigation, first party insurance defense, energy litigation and appellate law. Professional Associations Mr. Foster is a member of the West Virginia State Bar and a past chairperson of the West Virginia State Bar Young Lawyers Section. He is licensed to practice in the State of West Virginia and the District of Columbia. Mr. Foster is also admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Personal Mr. Foster is a native of Morgantown, West Virginia and resides in the Charleston area with his wife, three children and family dog, Scout.

Nathan Langston was raised here in St. George, Utah. He can relate to our locals in that some of us may be a bit hesitant to even contact a personal injury attorney. Nate gets it, and he can help. Before joining our firm in 2018, Nate spent most of the last decade working at three different large personal injury law firms across the State of Utah. Nate is a seasoned trial lawyer with a vast amount of jury trial experience. His experience in personal injury motion practice is second to none in Southern Utah. Nate knows all too well the runaround we Southern Utahn’s get when dealing with insurance claims departments. He loves being available to his clients to walk them through the process and answer any questions. His breadth of litigation and trial experience has given Nate the reputation of a bit of a bulldog. Nate graduated from the University of Utah with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and then stayed at the U to complete law school as well. His legal education from the S.J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah gave Nate exposure to top-notch legal training in a variety of areas of the law. Nate enjoys off-roading and camping in Utah’s Dixie National Forest with his family. He also loves board sports including snowboarding, skimboarding on the Virgin River, and Onewheeling around his neighborhood. Nate is married and has two young children.

Attorney Robert N. Launie graduated from Boston College High School in 1974 and Boston College in 1978. After working in-house for a large union masonry company in many different capacities for four years, he decided he would follow his dream of being a litigator and attend law school. Attorney Launie entered New England School of Law, in the evening program while still working his day job for the union masonry company, graduating in 1986 with his entering class. While at New England School of Law, he interned as a Rule 303 prosecutor in the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office handling numerous prosecutions. Attorney Launie was always drawn to trial work and started his own practice doing court-appointed criminal defense work in various district courts, in Middlesex, Norfolk, and Bristol counties. In the early '90’s, Attorney Launie was hired to defend individuals accused of serious crimes and was charged with assembling defense teams for their representation as well as actively participating in the defense of many high-profile cases. Over a 30-year career, Attorney Launie has appeared in both District and Superior Courts, as well as the Federal Courts throughout New England. In 1997, Attorney Launie began working with Attorney Paul V. Marino. After a few years of practicing together, Attorney Launie and Attorney Marino formed Launie & Marino, P.A., in 1999. Together they have expanded their practice to the areas of business litigation, business transactions, family law, as well as counseling and strategic planning for small businesses. Attorney Launie has successfully completed a nationally approved and accredited intensive mediation program, receiving his certificate from the highly respected MWI mediation facility, allowing him to work as both a mediator and conciliator.
