Matthew Starling, a native of Spartanburg, SC, is not only an impressive lawyer, he’s also living proof of how much good one person can do in the world. Founding Partner Christopher Guldjian is an aggressive advocate and trial attorney for those who have been injured due to the negligence and intentional acts of other individuals and companies. Mr. Guldjian was trained by clerking for the Los Angeles Superior Court in Long Beach and the Huntington Beach City Attorney’s office. His trial experience grew while working for major private firms and renowned plaintiff trial attorneys. Mr. Guldjian has successfully brought several cases to verdict and has aggressively advocated major plaintiff settlements emulating in the millions of dollars. Recently, Chris was featured on the front page of the Orange County Register after suing a mental health facility related to his client being raped by another patient. Mr. Guldjian received his B.A. in Political Science and International Relations at California State University, Long Beach. He earned his J.D. from Whittier Law School. While in law school, he received an award in pretrial litigation and graduated top of his class. Attorney Diana Devine was born in Queens, New York, and initially raised in Staten Island, New York, but moved to rural northeastern North Carolina at age 13 and attended Perquimans County High School in Hertford, North Carolina. She knew she wanted to be a lawyer since she was eight years old. Whenever she was asked what she wanted to be when she grew up, she would answer with confidence, “A lawyer!”. She graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from East Carolina University in 2004. Diana jumped right into the legal field, working as a paralegal and law firm administrator for a general practice law firm in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, for over ten years. She gained invaluable experience in practice areas such as personal injury, civil litigation, criminal defense, workers’ compensation, real estate, domestic law, and much more. She continued her legal career by attending Regent University School of Law in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Mr. Berman previously worked as a prosecutor with the State’s Attorney’s Office for Anne Arundel County, though he has ample experience in many different areas of the law. While in law school, Attorney Berman served as an Associate Comments Editor on the University of Baltimore Law Review, where he honed his legal writing skills. Mr. Berman also represented clients in civil commitment proceedings as a student attorney with the Disability Law Clinic, before going on to work as a Certified Mediator for the Health Advocacy Unit in the Office of the Attorney General. Attorney Berman was hired as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable J. Michael Wachs in the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County after he graduated law school. While working in that position, he frequently reviewed motions, conducted legal research, and assisted Judge Wachs with the preparation of various court rulings. During his time as an Assistant State’s Attorney, in addition to his sizeable caseload, Mr. Berman was responsible for screening DUI cases, sifting through hospital records, conducting competency hearings, and training colleagues on DUI case law. He started on the District Court team, before being promoted to the Circuit Court, and ultimately to the Auto-Manslaughter Trial Team.
