Marla Zide’s interest in the law began at a young age, inspired by her father’s work as an attorney. A native of New England, she moved to Maryland in 1993 to attend Goucher College, earning a degree in psychology with a minor in Women’s Studies. She later graduated from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 2001, focusing her studies on family law. During law school, she gained valuable experience through the Family Law Clinic and her work with the Maryland Legal Service Network, where she helped expand access to legal resources across the state. Since her admission to the Maryland Bar in 2001, Ms. Zide has dedicated her practice to guiding clients through family law matters, including divorce, custody, visitation, support, and adoption. Attorney Jason G. Miller brings over 15 years of criminal law experience to Alpert Schreyer Criminal Defense Attorneys. As a former assistant state’s attorney for Anne Arundel County, he has handled every type of criminal defense matter, from DUI and traffic-related matters to homicide. Having tried hundreds of criminal bench trials and dozens of criminal jury trials, Mr. Miller’s vast experience positions him well to challenge prosecutors at every facet of a trial. He began his legal career at the State’s Attorney’s Office and rose through the ranks from law clerk to Chief of the District Court. Mr. Miller spent time handling DUI’s and criminal misdemeanors, burglaries, violent crimes, and sexual offenses. He received a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) certification in the administration of standardized field sobriety tests in 2010. He has also attended the National Computer Forensics Institute twice for training related to computer forensics and cellular devices. For the last five years Mr. Miller was trusted with supervising and training all new attorneys. In 2021, he was named Director of Attorney Training for the entire State’s Attorney’s Office. Mr. Miller has been a frequent guest instructor to multiple local law enforcement agencies, at the University of Maryland DUI Institute, the Fort Meade Drunk & Drugged Driving seminar, and the Maryland State’s Attorney’s Association. Mr. Miller began teaching introduction to trial advocacy to law students as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Baltimore School of Law in the spring of 2023. In 2023, Mr. Miller was certified as a DWI detection and standardized field sobriety test instructor by the NHTSA. Mr. Miller was born and raised to a career firefighter in Northern Virginia. He spent time as a volunteer firefighter while pursuing his bachelors in fire and safety engineering technology. For years, Mr. Miller handled all of the arson cases in Anne Arundel County. In addition, he has presented numerous times as a subject matter expert at the International Association of Arson Investigators and also presented to the Maryland Fire and Explosion Investigators Association. His background and experience with complex criminal investigations and expert witnesses is a valuable asset to Alpert Schreyer Criminal Defense Attorneys. Having been in Maryland since 2005, Mr. Miller has made this area his home. He graduated cum laude from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 2009 and was also a staff editor of their flagship journal, Law Review. Mr. Miller lives in Anne Arundel County with his wife and two children. He enjoys spending time at his children’s various sporting events, hiking, running, and fishing.

Viral Mehta has called Charlotte his home for over 30 years. He attended and graduated from Charlotte-Mecklenburg public schools. He then graduated from nearby Davidson College with a Bachelor of Arts in History. Mr. Mehta obtained his law degree from Wake Forest University School of Law and then returned home to Charlotte to begin his legal practice. Mr. Mehta spent the first decade of his legal career defending employers and large insurance companies in workers’ compensation claims. Mr. Mehta developed expertise in workers’ compensation law, but he felt a lack of fulfillment in representing insurance companies against injured workers. Mr. Mehta began representing injured workers when he founded the workers’ compensation practice group at a local law firm. Mr. Mehta then co-founded Mehta & McConnell PLLC. They usually will not disclose all of the money that they should be paying you. For example, very often they will not mention pain and suffering damages, future medical bills, or lost wages. They succeed when you get less money. They also take notes about what you tell them, and can use it against you later. So don't talk to them until you talk to a lawyer. This is true even if they admit their insured was at fault for the accident. The big question then is the AMOUNT of your damages -- and that's where the fight often takes place.
