Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
over my 33 year career i have been able to obtain not guilty verdicts in 1st degree murder cases, multimillion dollar verdicts for the wrongful death of a child, reunited children with parents from others who had them taken away, and positive results for thousands of clients. i have never advertised leaving it to my clients to refer their friends and family to me for their legal needs.
How did you build a successful practice?
i left the public defenders' office in 1983 to partner with a real estate attorney who did the closing for my house. he was agreements and i was disagreements. i practice in state and federal courts and i handle criminal, civil and family law with an occasional probate trial. you build a good practice by doing good work and being completely honest with clients as to cost and potential resolution of their issues.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
since i have handled cases in federal courts outside of miami with good results, i would say it is not an issue.

if a potential client calls me, i ask if there is an existing case and i bring the docket up on my computer. then i can see what is happening. if not, then what are the issues and if i want to handle it.

What are your other interests in addition to law?
music, cooking and books, i also have a lot of kids and grandchildren who entertain me and my wife.
