Notable Work
I endorse this lawyer. I have worked with Stuart on several business-related matters and I have found him to be creative and knowledgeable in many aspects of the law. I found Stuart to have integrity and propriety.
Brian H. Herschfus
Real Estate Attorney
An IRS agent threatened to put me in jail claiming I owed $120,000 in income taxes and penalties. I hired Mr. Sandweiss and he got the whole mess settled saving me over $100K without criminal charges. Outstanding!!!

I highly recommend Mr. Stuart Sandweiss’s expert legal services. Several years ago, I was involved in an auto accident and received multiple tickets. Mr. Sandweiss was able to get all of the points waived and reduce my total ticket amount to $175. Recently, I had a problem with fraudulent fees and interest charges on my Home Depot credit card. Again, Mr. Sandweiss stepped in and promptly resolved the issue. I have found Mr. Sandweiss to be extremely knowledgeable, courteous and honest (which can be hard to come by in this profession!).

Questions & Answers
Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
As a bankruptcy practitioner, I have helped numerous homeowners who faced foreclosure evictions either work out deals to repurchase their homes or settlements where they received ""cash for keys."" I have also help people avoid garnishments and have successfully defended clients against overzealous debt collectors who were attempting to collect on predatory loans. In the criminal arena I have helped clients successfully defend against bogus criminal charges and have negotiated numerous successful settlements in both civil and criminal cases.
How did you build a successful practice?
By working hard and taking the time necessary to understand my clients' needs and finding solutions in order to help them.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
A person who is honest, hard-working and will fight for his or her clients. I believe that I exemplify all of these qualities.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Very important. Thus, my experience as a lifelong resident of the metro Detroit area is extremely helpful to my clients.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
Ideas of what needs to be done to successfully resolve the client's legal challenge.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
A description of the legal challenge that the client is facing.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
I take the time to listen to my clients' concerns and work with them to find a solution that meets their needs. When I go to court I am always prepared and I fight passionately on behalf of my clients. In fact, I have been complimented by judges who have told me, ""even if I don't always agree with you, I admire the fact that you are so passionate about what you are fighting for.""
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Helping people successfully resolve their legal challenges and achieve the results that they are looking for to make their life better.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
Boating and photography.
Are you involved in your community?
Yes. In addition to practicing law, I assist a number of non-profit organizations and teach 8th Grade American History and 12th Grade American Government at a local parochial school.
