About Taneka
Taneka was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Management. In 2005, she obtained her Doctorate of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law.
While at South Texas, Taneka was awarded the Dean's Award for Outstanding Student Advocate and inducted in the Order of the Barristers. Taneka was also a member of four varsity appellate advocacy teams. She competed at the Wiliam B. Spong, Jr. Invitational Moot Court Competition, where her team argued before judges from the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals and was crowned National Champions. At the Texas Young Lawyers Association Moot Court Competition, her team argued before the Texas Supreme Court and she was awarded second best speaker. Taneka also competed at the regional level at the American College of Trial Lawyers Moot Court Competition sponsored by the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, where her team won first place and she was awarded best speaker. At the American Bar Association Moot Court Competition, Taneka's team became Regional Champions.
Taneka was admitted to the Texas bar in 2005. She joined Schwartz, Junell, Greenberg and Oathout LLP in March, 2007 and focuses her practice on general civil litigation, including employment, commercial, real estate, DTPA, contract and fraud-based litigation. She is also admitted in the United States District Courts for the Southern, Eastern and Northern Districts and the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. She is a member of the American Bar Association and Houston Bar Association. She also continues to be actively involved in mentoring varsity moot court advocates at South Texas College of Law.
