About Theodore
Mr. Green, a graduate of Columbia Law School, is an experienced criminal defense lawyer and appellate counsel. He was initially trained at a large New York City law firm and later at the Criminal Appeal Bureau of New York City's public defender office, The Legal Aid Society. Mr. Green has tried many state and federal criminal cases. He has perfected appeals in a variety of criminal and civil cases in the New York and federal courts. His appellate work has included representing those convicted of crimes but also includes plaintiffs and defendants in personal injury cases, parents in custody matters appealing judgments from New York's Family Courts, matrimonial appeals, appeals of public officers such as police and corrections officers unfairly terminated from employment, and forfeiture cases. Mr. Green has argued more than 100 appeals in he New York State Appellate Divisions, the State Court of Appeals, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
Mr. Green is a member of the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Bronx County Bar Association.
In connection with the NYSACDL Amicus Committee, Mr. Green prepared an amicus brief in the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in the matters of Rosen v. Walsh, 03-2480 and Brown v. Greiner, 03-2242(L). Our brief relates to the constitutionality of New York's discretionary persistent felony statute in light of Apprendi v. New Jersey, 530 U.S. 466 (2000).
