Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

I had a dissolution trial where the mother was adamant that the father should not have more than basic contact with his children and argued that she had no ability to earn and needed alimony. I was successful in having the father explain in detail why he was entitled to 50-50 shared custody and how the wife was actually able to earn a decent living after the dissolution. In that case the judge also accepted without qualification my analysis of the equitable distribution of assets and debts. In that case the judge had told opposing counsel that she should try to negotiate the equitable division of assets with me during the lunch break because I was "a straight shooter."

How did you build a successful practice?

My practice is built upon a reputation for being caring and responsive to my clients' needs and on being meticulous in my preparation and presentation of my case to the court. I have a reputation of being honest and straight forward with the court with a high level of credibility with the judges that I practice before. I have had an office in the Oviedo Winter Springs area since 1999.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Clients should want a lawyer who has a deep knowledge of the area of law he is asked to deal with. They should want a lawyer who will pay attention to their individual need and answer their questions as they arise.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

I do not know the answer to this. I know it makes a difference with the judges. Over the years, I have had opposing clients recommend my services to others and have had opposing clients come to me for legal services after the original matter was closed.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

I generally ask about the status of their legal issue, whether the matter has been filed or served, etc. I explain that I cannot give any specific legal advice over the phone but that in my consult, I will try to explain what would be the least expensive way to address their legal problem.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

What kind of matter they are calling about, divorce, modification, paternity, etc. Some basic facts about their problem and what kind help the potential client is looking for.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

35 years of experience, AV rated by Martindale Hubble, strong legal knowledge.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Doing family law is helping people through a very hard time, both emotionally and financially. I get great satisfaction in helping them through tis hard time and ensuring that they get a fair result

What are your other interests in addition to law?

I am an avid reader and enjoy running and cycling as recreation.
