Mr. Allen's practice experience encompasses various areas of litigation, both civil and criminal, in state and federal courts. He now emphasizes family law, advising clients and litigating cases involving divorce, alimony, property distribution, child custody and support, separation agreements, premarital agreements, and post-marital agreements. Mr. Allen is certified as a Family Financial Mediator by the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission. As a Mediator, Mr. Allen is a neutral third party who assists parties in searching for ways to solve their disputes. Mediators encourage parties to open channels of communications, reason through their discussions, and see the other side's point of view. The Mediator also explores the strengths and weaknesses of each side's case, suggests compromises, and aids each side in negotiations. Mr. Allen also represents individuals and businesses in bankruptcy and immigration matters. He was an Assistant District Attorney from 1994-2001. Mr. Allen served our nation as an officer in the United States Army Reserve, where he saw duty in the United States and Germany. In 2004-2005, Mr. Allen was mobilized and served on active duty in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
