Estate, Wills & Probate, Estate Planning

My name is Tej Singh - I am the founder of Tej Law Firm, PLLC in Texas and Tej Law Firm, PC in California. I started this firm in December 2020 with one goal: to help real people with real problems. I am a proud Aggie and graduated from Texas A&M University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and a minor in Business Administration. I graduated from the University of San Diego School of Law with Honors in 2016. I am fully licensed and serve clients in both Texas and California and have thus am able to represent clients in both states. In my career thus far, I am fortunate to have already worked in diverse legal environments, spanning from firms of varying sizes to varying legal subspecialities. In law school, I clerked for various firms, specializing in employment law, personal injury, and intellectual property. I am fortunate to have a diverse spectrum of prior experiences that I now apply at my firm. Once I was granted admission to the California State Bar, I initially practiced with the largest Workersโ€™ Compensation Defense Firm in California (Los Angeles). For two years, I protected and limited exposure to employers dealing with injured workers. I built relationships with Workersโ€™ Compensation Insurance Companies and the Workersโ€™ Compensation Appeals Court Judges and learned the Workersโ€™ Compensation system from the perspective of the Defense. After passing the California Bar Exam, I decided to challenge myself to also pass the Texas Bar Exam so that I could serve as legal counsel in Texas for my family. After I was granted admission to the Texas State Bar, I moved to Texas and practiced as a defense attorney in areas of employment law, Texas Dram Shop Law, personal injury, medical malpractice, and Texas windstorm insurance. Before starting my own firm, I worked at a plaintiffโ€™s firm focusing on wage and hour disputes as well as medical malpractice claims. My main practice area is Employment law including wage and hour claims and California Workers' Compensation claims. In California, I represent clients that have been injured at work with their Workersโ€™ Compensation claims. I know how the Defense thinks, and I know what to anticipate in their legal strategies. I work closely with my clients, as part of a team, to ensure that my clientsโ€™ rights are protected after an injury or ailment developed in the workplace. We will work together to make sure that you receive proper medical treatment, fair compensation for time missed from work, compensation for any loss in future earnings, and future medical treatment. I also handle Wills and Estate Planning in Texas. My goal is to ensure that my clients maintain peace of mind knowing that all their necessary legal documents are prepared and valid, with all assets accounted for, in the case of an emergency or the unfortunate passing of a family member.

Divorce & Family Law, Collection, International Other, Estate Planning, Conveyancing

PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY Board Certified family law trial attorney with 24 years in practice and more than 400 cases tried to rendition in the family and district courts of Harris and Fort Bend Counties and the Office of the Attorney General child support courts. Founder of a Houston firm handling contested and uncontested divorce, custody, child support, statewide family law appeals, judgment enforcement and exemption planning. Appears daily in the ten Harris County family courts and about twice a week in the four Fort Bend County family courts, and personally tries the firmโ€™s contested cases. Former debtorโ€™s counsel in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 before the Houston and Galveston Divisions of the Southern District of Texas: more than 4,000 bankruptcies filed and over $250,000,000 in debt discharged. Prior careers as a U.S. Marine field artilleryman and a licensed funeral director and embalmer shaped a practice built on disciplined preparation, direct answers and steadiness under pressure. PERSPECTIVE He has sat where his clients sit. Married three times โ€” twice in Harris County and once in Fort Bend County โ€” and divorced twice in the Harris County family district courts (the 245th and the 309th), once as his own petitioner proving up a Rule 11 agreement and once through counsel. He knows the inventories, the temporary orders, the waiting and the cost from the petitionerโ€™s chair as well as counsel table. He is father to three children and stepfather to three more, and has raised a family across Japanese, Honduran and Palestinian households, so a client whose marriage spans cultures, languages or borders is not explaining something foreign to him. That experience shapes the counsel: practical rather than therapeutic, focused on workable co-parenting, firm boundaries and getting the client to the other side with their finances and their relationships with their children intact. The main office sits in Houstonโ€™s International District, and the firm works in English and Spanish. His eldest daughter is a Texas Army National Guard veteran; his son followed him into the Marine Corps. An ordained minister, he performs wedding ceremonies at no charge in the office or by Zoom; marrying a couple conflicts him out of ever representing either spouse against the other, a bargain he accepts willingly. Estate Planning, Accident & Injury, Social Security -- Disability, Mass Torts, Estate

For the last 30 years, Iโ€™ve been helping people like you handle the trauma of being injured or disabled. Over the past year and half my clients have received settlements in excess of 8 million dollars. Approximately half of my practice is personal injury where I help individuals recover from the effects of being hurt in a car, motorcycle, or truck accident. Iโ€™m paid on a contingency fee basis which means you donโ€™t pay me until the insurance company settles with you, so essentially they are paying my fees. Approximately fifty percent of my practice is helping people navigate the social security disability maze. The government pays my fees, so please donโ€™t hesitate to ask for help if you need it.
