About Wendi
Wendi obtained a bachelor’s degree from University of Illinois at Springfield, graduating summa cum laude and majoring in liberal studies and business management. She earned her juris doctor from Northern Illinois University, graduating cum laude.
In law school, Wendi competed in the American Bar Association Negotiations competition. After finishing second at regionals, she and her partner earned an invitation to Nationals where they finished first in the nation after the first round and went on to be National semi-finalists. She also was a semi-finalist in Mock Trial and awarded Best Oralist – Appellant in Moot Court competition.
Wendi was selected by the Dean as one of eight, first-year law students to receive an APPLE award, which earned her a judicial clerkship in the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit. She also had the honor of serving as judicial clerk in the Fifteenth Circuit in Ogle County. She earned the Highest Grade Award in Professional Responsibility. Upon completion of Appellate Advocacy, Wendi was one of four students to receive an invite to serve as an extern where she worked with the Third Judicial District State Appellate Defender’s Office performing research on a case to be argued before the Illinois Supreme Court.
Additionally, Wendi served as a graduate assistant in human resources for three years where the focus of her work pertained to civil rights and Title IX investigations. Her work as a graduate assistant, in conjunction with the passing of the Illinois Preventing Sexual Violence in Higher Education Act, ignited her interest in the rights of the accused during Title IX investigations. As a member of Law Review, she articulated her concern for fair and impartial investigations for all students in her article titled, “Respondent Rights Needed in Illinois Post-Secondary Education Title IX Sexual Misconduct Investigations and Illinois’s Preventing Sexual Violence in Higher Education Act.”
Wendi is a member of the American Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA), Winnebago County Bar Association, Ogle County Bar Association, the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois and is a member of the 2019-2020 ISBA Labor & Employment Law Section Council.
