About Whit
I specialize in personal injury law that includes mainly motor vehicle accident and premises liability (slip and fall) cases. I also evaluate other types of cases, including workplace accidents, medical malpractice, defective product manufacture and design, and insurance fraud. Over the years, I have handled hundreds of cases for my clients resulting in millions of dollars in combined gross recoveries. I am a member in good standing of the Alabama State Bar and the Baldwin County Bar Associations.
I believe that lawyers have a unique opportunity to help people who have been injured in accidents by demanding fair treatment from insurance companies and obtaining maximum compensation for the physical, financial, and emotional damages they have suffered.
Historically, lawyers representing injured persons have helped restore balance to a system that favors insurance companies and big business. If we decide to work together to pursue your claim, you will never receive a bill from me. My attorney fee is a percentage of the recovery proceeds paid by the at-fault insurance company.
I believe that I offer something special that other law firms often fail to prioritize in their representation of clients. That something is the personalized attention that I give each client. I have learned through many years as a lawyer that it is important to get to know not only the facts of all of my clients’ cases, but also to become familiar with the individual challenges that they face as a result of their accident injuries. We will get to know each other professionally to bring about the best result for you and your case.
I am always accessible to discuss your case, and my office telephone landline (251) 943-9330 rolls over to my cellular phone if I’m out of the office. If I miss your call and you leave a message, I will always promptly return your call. I will keep you well-informed of all developments in your case, and I will be upfront and truthful in all my dealings with you as my client.

Questions & Answers
Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
My client was involved in a car accident that was the other driver's fault. She had previously had neck surgery that had not healed properly. The at fault driver's insurance adjuster convinced her that she had no actual injury from this accident and offered her $5000 which she was inclined to accept. Her daughter convinced her to contact a lawyer and she contacted my office and after meeting with me, she hired me to represent her. She eventually required a second surgery that we were able to prove was at least in part due to the car accident. We settled her case for $250,000.
How did you build a successful practice?
I made a plan to build a personal injury practice that would emphasize working with my clients and the local medical community to assist in every way I could to insure that my clients were provided the best medical treatment to accelerate their recoveries; to build relationships with the local medical community toward that purpose; and establish relationships with insurance carriers and local lawyers who defended at-fault drivers to expect that I would be committed to obtaining fair and generous compensation for my clients' injuries. Early on, I took a variety of kinds of cases to build a clientele base, and now exclusively handle only personal injury cases.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
A good fit personality-wise, clear communication and experience.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Local knowledge certainly helps, particularly knowing the local doctors' and hospitals' medical, medical records and business office staffs. All of this comes into play in all cases, but particularly in cases where my client has no health insurance. Having good relationships with local doctors and diagnostic facilities allows my clients to get the treatment they need but that they might not otherwise be able to afford under a letter of protection that the medical provider will be paid at the conclusion of the case.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
I can review the facts of the case and the likelihood of success as well as give guidance to the caller if they choose to go it on their own. I like to schedule an appointment to meet and get the ball rolling with regard to car repairs (I don't take a fee for any of the foregoing), obtain a copy of the accident report and identify and contact the insurance carriers.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
Name address and accident logistics.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
Responsiveness, availability, experience and specialization.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Seeing clients physically recover after going through a disruptive and painful period of their lives and to insure that I maximize the compensation they receive that can often be life changing.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
Time spent with my wife and our family, working out, golf, reading, writing, kayaking and travel.
Are you involved in your community?
Formerly on the board of the local YMCA, Wolf Bay Watershed water quality tester, environmental issues, etc.
