Questions & Answers
Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
In March of 2016 a CHP officer found a detached bumper with my client's license plate, next to a light pole that had been knocked over and was blocking the highway. My client admitted to being the driver of the car and was charged with a hit and run, for leaving the scene of the accident without providing her insurance information. We took the case to trial and she was found NOT GUILTY! In December of 2015 my client was fired from her job after a disagreement with a co-worker. She was offered two months severance pay. We sued for sexual harassment, as a result of a consensual relationship she had with her supervisor, which she was unsuccessful in ending, and which contributed to the stress that caused her disagreement. The matter resolved and my client received more than a full year's salary.
How did you build a successful practice?
I built my practice by showing patience and compassion with my clients, and ensuring that I take aggressive action to represent their interests. As a result, almost a quarter of my cases are referrals from past clients.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
A person facing a legal issue should look for someone who will listen to them, explain the law and the procedures that relate to their case, and work collaboratively with the client to come up with realistic goals and a strategy that the client can understand, to achieve those goals.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Local knowledge can be extremely helpful to clients. Familiarity with local judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys, and the local rules can prove invaluable.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
During a phone consultation I can provide an outline of the legal process related to a potential client's issue, and can explain what they can expect when they go to court. I can explain what the client, or the prosecution must prove in order to win their case, and I can explain how evidence is presented. I cannot give in-depth analysis until I have a longer interview with the individual, and have a chance to review any documents associated with the issue.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
The information I need to conduct a phone consultation is the individual's name, the nature of their legal issue, and the county in which the incident or issue happened.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
I am a young, solo attorney who spends a significant amount of time with my clients, and who works collaboratively with his clients to achieve realistic goals which have been set together.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Hearing my client's say that they don't know what they would have done had they not hired me.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
I enjoy art, music and sports and enjoy spending time with my family and friends.
Are you involved in your community?
I am consistently involved in community activities and am always looking for ways to give back and be a positive influence on young people.
