Questions & Answers
Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
I represented two wonderful co-executors who were accused of mismanaging their mother's estate. Upon meeting with the clients and hearing what happened, I knew they fulfilled their responsibilities beyond what was legally required. However, I also knew from experience that without proper case development and trial preparation, my clients could still lose their case despite having done nothing wrong. Hence, I developed and executed a case strategy to demonstrate the hard work and thoroughness of these two co-executors. As the case neared trial, I meet on a Saturday with my clients to go over their case and help them not feel nervous about testifying. On the day of trial, my clients where well prepared and the judge ruled in favor of my clients.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
I have had experiences where a potential client only asks me two questions when determining whether I am a good fit - price and location. I recognize the importance of these two factors, but I want clients to know more about me. For instance, I have a website that provides my biography, publications and past seminars. I encourage clients to review information we have on our website such as the article titled "Updating an Older Last Will and Testament". I personally wrote the article, so even if a client is not interested in the topic, reviewing the article will provideinsight as to my writing and communication skills. As you can see, I am interested in clients having the information needed to determine if I am a good fit. I encourage any potential client evaluating me to ask me questions regarding my training, past experience and knowledge of the subject. I look forward to hearing from you.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
I am continuously perfecting my professional skills because I believe this enables me to provide excellent client representation. I recently obtained a master's degree in Public Health and can discuss a range of aging issues including issues pertaining to Medicare and Medicaid. I have a health management and accounting background and I am working to obtain an accounting certification.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
I love meeting and working with clients. I believe my clients are genuinely comfortable speaking with me about various issues because I am truly interesting in helping them. I have had opportunities to work outside of the legal profession, but the ability to work and assist clients has made me stay right where I am.
Are you involved in your community?
In 2012, I completed a half-marathon on behalf of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I trained with LLS Atlanta Chapter under two awesome coaches. In 2013, I ran the Peachtree Road Race for the first time. I hope to make that one a tradition. I love to stay fit by running - albeit I am not very fast. My pace is about 11:30, so in a pack I am usually somewhere in the back. But, I try to do my best and work on improving.
