Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
Obtained a verdict in workers' compensation case where lady(factory line worker) injured her neck and wrists. Very creative arguments under the Alabama Workers' Compensation Act extended the amount of weeks available to her for compensation, thus much higher recovery. Obtained verdict of permanent total disability (the highest allowed in Alabama workers' compensation) for nursing home worker injured in lifting accident.
Obtained high value settlement for lady who injured her spine on the job at a machine shop. The injury resulted in another award for full disability in social security. Obtained five figure settlement for minor injured in automobile accident. Obtained custody of children, child support and favorable property settlement in divorce case, for father/husband.How did you build a successful practice?
Hard work and always being available for clients. Clients can contact me through the office or email. I even give my cell phone number to clients and have communicate through test messages.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
A good reputation in the community, along with temperament and a good working relationship with the local bar. I can't stress that enough. Too many clients see a television ad and flock to a mega firm with no connection to the locale.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Extremely. You have to know the Courts' temperament, preferences and interpretation of the law, as well as that of opposing counsel.XX

Whether or not a particular matter is in my field of expertise. If not, then referral services to lawyers experienced in that field. Rates and time to conclude the matter and what to expect throughout the process.

Extent of injuries, nature of the problem, the time frame when legal assistance is needed, whether or not they have been or are currently represented by another lawyer and ability to retain services.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
There are many qualified lawyers. My strengths are in personal injury, criminal defense and domestic relations. I have a strong track record in litigating to verdict and settlement of these cases. You don't want a real estate lawyer handling your car accident.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Helping people who've lost hope. It's very rewarding to come in to a situation where it's clear that the client is being pushed around and setting things right.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
I'm very involved with Barber Motorsports and participate in track days for both motorcycle and car. I also volunteer at the bigger race events. Additionally, I collect shell cordovan boots and shoes, as well as vintage wrist watches.
Are you involved in your community?
Yes, I help with the local food and clothing shelters in Trussville and St. Clair County.
